Basketball at Reliant

Has anyone been to basketball games at Reliant? I am looking ahead to the NCAA tournament games there and considering purchasing tickets. How are the upper level seats - 4th and 5th levels? Is it like the Alamo Dome where there are some pretty bad seats with bad angles?

Games will be at Reliant....This will be a test run for the Final Four to be held there next year. I didn't order tickets for the Regional when they went on sale several months ago (mostly b/c of Ticketmaster's $10+ service fees per ticket) but others on the board will be able to correct me if I'm wrong: I believe the court will be laid down in the middle of the stadium unlike the Alamodome where a curtain covers half of the stadium.

Anyone recall the setup when we played there two or three years ago (against Seton Hall I believe) and does anyone know if that will be the same setup for the Regional this year?

I went to the Seton Hall game a few years back and if I remember correctly, they had the court in one of the "endzones" like you see in many other domes. However, for the regional this year, it appears they will have the court in the middle of the field. See the seating chart here. And buy your tickets too!

Horn, that's exactly what I was thinking, but since I wasn't at the game (it was way back in Nov. 2002The Link ) I wasn't 100% sure of the layout for that game.

From that link, it looks like they aren't selling tickets behind the goals (other than on the floor). That is an interesting setup. Best tickets currently available are in the 500 sections for $156 + service fees for 3 games. I'll pass on that until I know for certain we'll be in the South bracket.

If you just want a single, you can get a ticket in the club level. It is annoying that they do not have 2 together below the 4th level. I also looked at some
ticket websites and the prices were ridiculous. I will probably buy some tickets and go whether we are there or not. Guess I should have done it earlier.

I was at the LSU game several years ago, and only about a quarter of the stadium was used with a bunch of temporary seats. It'll be much different come March.

The court is going to be placed in the center of the dome, which is the new NCAA setup to be able to sell 20,000 extra seats. They are trying out this configuration at Reliant and Ford Field this year, in anticipation of Final Fours at both sites. Also, they plan (at least for the Final Four, don't know about the regional) to have standing room for students in the floor sections behind the baskets. They are also supposed to be raising the court 30-40 inches off the floor of the dome, which may make for some interesing sightlines. I am selling my Sec111 tickets, because I don't think I'd be able to see anything from them anyway.

I just want to warn everybody, then, that based on my previous experience, everything from the 300s up will be pretty much worthless, in terms of view. If you want to say you were there, though, have at it...

PC, I'd contact Reliant and ask how many tickets each school will get. Then you might be able to judge how you'll fare with LHF.

Based on what I have seen, the bandwagon starts to sag when they reach the regional round...
