Barton Creek Resort vs Lost Pines Resort

Looking for a short 3 day getaway for Losthubby and I, since we can not go to Rio.

These two are within driving distance of west Houston, and both offer stuff of interest. Anyone stayed at either of these? Any thoughts? A round of golf would be great for hubby, if the courses are nice. He is serious about his game (about a 8-9 handicap). I just ride along in the cart and take pictures of interesting stuff. Both have other stuff that we would be interested in as well, ie sunset river float, a canopy tour via zip wire, a wine tour; both appear to have nice spas that offer a couples massage too. Anyone have any thoughts on either of them? Thanks!

stayed at Lost Pines last year when it first opened. I highly reccommend it. Great massage. I didn't play golf, I sat by the pool while my 2 year old had an awesome time on their beach by the pool. But a buddy of mine golfed and says that "wolfdancer" is an awesome course with great views. Lotsa wildlife out there too. It is amazing how secluded you feel while at the resort.

I haven't stayed at either, but I have played golf at the Lost Pines Wolfdancer course and it was incredible. One of the nicer courses I've ever played. The resort looked really nice from what I saw of it, and I would stay there myself if it wasn't so expensive. Great place though if you wanna get away from it all and just relax in the hills for a few days.

I stayed at Barton Creek with my wife and kids last weekend (as in 10 days ago). I checked on rooms for Lost PInes. The minimum priced room at Lost Pines was $400.00/night. Yes, $400.00.

Our room at Barton Creek was $299 and it included a round of golf for me and a massage for my wife.

Lost Pines will have many, many more kiddos and the golf course, while nice, is not as nice as the Fazio courses over at Barton Creek.

Golf-Can't beat BC. Rated the best in Texas (by someone).
Massage-one of the best the wife and I have ever had was at BC.
Pool-Lost Pines has that waterpark thing, so that wins. But BC has poolside waitresses. Not sure about LP.
Wine tour-BC is much closer to the hill country wineries.

If its me, it's an easy choice. BC.
