Bars in San Antonio?

Heading to SA to see Clapton next Saturday and was wanting some recommendations on a good bar. Not looking for anything fancy, just a place with a decent beer selection to hang out and kick back a few before the show.

Stonewerks in the Quarry has a nice patio and laid back atmosphere. It can get crowded during happy hour but you usually can get a table pretty quickly.

if he's playing at the alamodome, theres a couple of cool bars on commerce street (the alamodome side), near sunset station.

if you want more action, stonewerks is a good choice.

in that case, you're probably coming off I35 or 90. the only thing close i can think of is the bar in the havana inn. you're likely to be the only ones in there, but its a great place. nice balcony overlooking the quiet part of the riverwalk. about a block away from the library, which is about a block away from I35.

Try the Flying Saucer off I10 and De Zavala in a strip center called the Strand...

mrymyke, havent tried it yet, but heard good things. was there on a first friday, and no chance of getting in. need to go back on a quieter night.

happy hour at zen bar is the tits.

parking is a *****, though.
