Barney Frank to Announce Retirement

Has anyone read his blatant lies about how he tried to avert the Fannie Freddie disaster in 2005 and then says this whole fiasco caught him by surprise?

Then he says Delay wouldn't let him do anything about Fannie and Freddie until 2007, umm Delay was gone in the fall of 2005.

Then he goes on and bashes Barry Goldwater and says that he is happy because he no longer has to be nice to people he doesn't not like.

This guy is the biggest terd to ever have been in the House of Representatives, what a disgusting person.

I'm not a big partisan, but occasionally the partisans are right. This is such a case. Frank is pretty worthless. Not a lot of good legislation out of him but a lot of dirty politics, obnoxious rhetoric, and partisanship.

And it isn't about his politics. He's no more liberal than the rest of the Massachusetts delegation. He's just more of an a$$hole.

Despite the redistricting that would have ended Fat Barney's run anyway, this was the most patriotic act in his life. Never before has he done so much to help his country.

Speaking as a gay individual, I'm thrilled about this news and hope that Barney Frank fades into Bolivia. I have long been disturbed by his status as the de facto "gay representative" in Congress and look forward to someone less intolerable taking his place hopefully in the near future.

It's "fade into Bolivian", btw. Not a flame, but the joke misses its punch if you don't get it right.

For the most part I liked Frank. He was acerbic, partisan, cutting, sometimes witty, sometimes not. I'd rather have more of his type than less. On both sides of the aisle.

As a steward of the nation’s purse during the financial crisis Mr. Frank may not have succeeded, but he did quite well personally. Unusually, Mr. Frank’s personal finances sailed right through the downturn. In 2006 he reported assets valued between $525,020 and $1.6 million; by 2010 Mr. Franks’ net worth had soared to between $1.9 million and $4.6 million, with nary a down year in between. No wonder he can afford to retire.
