First of all....I don't remember when I've seen Rick not wear a tie (other than those Maui Invitational and such games). I know for sure that I've never seen Rick look more peeved than he did yesterday, especially during the first half. I'm not talking about yelling, that's too easy...I mean just the face of a man who is ready to destroy whatever is in his path.
Yesterday looked to me like Barnes played the guys who responded in practice and the ones who didnt, as Barnes might say "sat on the bench with me". It was nice to see Mason attack the basket again and to watch James play up to his potential. The first half was not pretty but we wore them down in the second.
Couple observations other than Mason and James:
Nice game for Matt Hill. He really seems to have quick feet...but looks goofy trying to use them sometimes. I hope as he gains more experience we will see more composure from him.
Dogus is looking better and better. He appears to be getting more comfortable penetrating. That crossover he had yesterday mixed with the strength for the layup in traffic was a thing of beauty.
Chapman played pretty well yesterday. He is a pretty darn good shotblocker.
As for Big Dex. What can I say? I was not in practice all week but unless there was an injury that I'm unaware of....I'd say he didnt do what was asked during the week.
Texas Tech has some fast players.
Overall...Good game and I hope it's a building block.
