Suggestions on either things to do or places to eat. Any help would be much appreciated.

Plenty of hiking trails in Banff with tons of wildlife. They also have a hot spring swimming pool and the hotel in Banff is a great place to get a drink. Looks like an old castle.

I can't recommend anything in particular other than the gondola ride which is obvious. You will have a great time. There are numerous great hikes there and Lake Louise and Jasper. It is beautiful and you will have a great time. I'm jealous. I wanted to go there in August. However, I owe my son a beach vacation. Have fun!

We had our vacation planned last summer to include both Glacier N.P. and Banff N.P. However, Canada had heightened security because of a terrorist scare, and they wouldn't let us in because we didn't have a passport for our youngest child. We knew the deadline for everyone needing passports hadn't arrived, so we took the chance and lost.

Instead, we spent a day boatiing on Flathead Lake and hiking on Wild Horse Island before heading down to Yellowstone to see some things we missed the last time we were there.

Let me know what we missed.

Spent two summers in Calgary/Banff working on films. If you're into "pampering" - don't miss the Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. The mineral pool is incredible. Spend an afternoon canoe/picnic-ing at Lake Louise. Also - if you have time, take the drive from Banff to Jasper.. the scenic views of the Canadian Rockies shouldn't be missed.
