Bands pull out of SXSW due to Army sponsorship

Artists are entertainment. But they are incredibly idealistic and consumed with virtue signaling. They think in terms of peace, love and flowers. The idea that our military is to be rejected is the height of naivete. Imagine the world in a Sino-Russo hegemony. Who would stop them? Europe? What a joke. Anyone else? Nope. Flowers? Again, what a joke. These people are basically worthless.

They don’t like law enforcement either. Abbott and the legislature should refuse to provide state level security. I’m sure the depleted Austin police department can handle it.

As expected, it's seven bands no one has ever heard of. Not even worth pasting the band names here.

And of course...

On Wednesday, SXSW issued a statement in which it disagreed with Abbott’s stance.

"SXSW does not agree with Governor Abbott.

We are an organization that welcomes diverse viewpoints. Music is the soul of SXSW, and it has long been our legacy. We fully respect the decision these artists made to exercise their right to free speech.
..."

So then SXSW DOES agree With Abbott since his viewpoint is different than theirs and they welcome diverse viewpoints...

So these bands came to SXSW to be heard and maybe jump start a career.
I guess their pulling out was more important to their woke sensibilities.
It was reported the entire Irish contingent withdrew ? Srsly?
I just hope most had already come here so buh bye to that money.

To be fair, this may get them more exposure than playing. At least now we've heard of them, I guess.

Becoming politically correct helped The Clash and Rage Against The Machine. Of course, they had good songs too. That always helps. I could scream F Abbott and make it rhyme but would it be art that would pay my bills?

So, who are these people?

Here's one of the protesting bands, the Lambrini Girls. I think the festival will do just fine without them:

What voices! What musicianship! Greatest melodies since Mozart! Brilliant video too, so insightful!

THE LAMBRINI GIRLS

“I’d already ripped open my pants by kneeling down, and I’d covered myself in alcohol and I was all sticky, I didn’t really know what I was doing,” she remembers. “I was a mess."

“Our songs are about saying, ‘**** these people’"

“Dad, why don’t I date men like you? / Because Freud was wide off the mark with my daddy issues”.

They're Brits from Brighton. And they're Iggy Pop's favorite new band.

Lads, these are not the sort of girls you'd bring home to meet Mom and Dad..........

and definitely do not invite them to a dinner party.

You know, on second thought, these chicks do kinda remind me of some of the Navy females I've known over the years. (emphasis on "some")

Introduce them to DAC. Saw him at the Texas Opry House years ago when the IRS came in and seized the purse. When he found out, he told everyone to get their cover charge back on the way out, made sure everyone knew the 3 guys in suits were IRS, and dedicated his "newest song" to them.

The song, which had really good, hard driving music, only had seven words, which were repeated constantly for 3-4 minutes -

"I'm gonna **** the **** outa you"

To be fair WE are probably not their target audience.
But I can still watch many of the current top acts not "get it" yet still see talent.

"A long time staple of the Brighton scene and now blasting off absolutely everywhere comes ferocious three piece Lambrini Girls. Their bristling EP You’re Welcome is a sonic barrage of raucous, shouty and high-octane punk fizzing with satire and vitriol that cements their place as an unmissable new prospect in 2023."

Wait! What's this?!? Looks like they'll be playing at the Crescent Club in Dallas , so at least Texas will get to see this highly talented act before they leave for the UK.

If any actual club members are lurking around here, if Jerry is still around (alive?), maybe he could back them up on the piano in his signature tux! :beertoast:

And now we've also pulled 8.5B from BlackRock. I really like this stronger approach to telling the liberal backers to take a hike. I'm generally pro-business, but business has increasingly been hijacked by liberals. They've used the GOP's general friendliness towards business against us. I'm very glad that we are finally recognizing that acquiescing to social agendas, because we're concerned about the potential economic impact, is the wrong course. Sure, there are some economic ramifications to making moves like this, but that can be dealt with. If we lose ground on social issues, we will likely never gain it back.
