Bananas Foster

I'm going to take a stab at making this little beauty this evening. Never made it before, and it certainly looks easy enough, but I'll happily accept any advice from seasoned flambe chefs.

If you hear sirens around halftime of the game, that's just me burning up my kitchen.

Our first really fancy dinner together, Robert took me to the now defunct Metropolitan Club. We had a private room and a new waiter. We ordered the Bananas Foster for dessert. I had never had it. The waiter had never made it for customers before. He was a perfectionist and, to his credit, threw away 3 batches before he was happy with the results, which were absolutely heavenly.

Good tip on the ice cream, it was good and hard, resisted melting for an extra minute or two.

Turned out great, although the flaming part was anticlimactic -- it flamed for maybe two seconds. I was concerned, but it tasted wonderful, so hey.
