Speaking of Bam Bam; he has been hospitalized with MRSA. This certainly complicates his ALS diagnosis. Family is requesting prayers, so prayers sent for Bam Bam and fam.

I dated a few nurses back in the 80s, closest to me said more than once "don't go unless you have to. People get very sick here". She did everything she could do to work for a private practice .

To add, I went to an emergency room in Lafayette LA in 2003 for the flu (on a trip) , wound up sicker than ever. Long story, but there's truth in horn6721's comment. I was in that hospital for 4 days, much worse than flu

That's why I could never be a doctor - too many sick people around them.

Bobby Layne, for some reason, perhaps his wife, retired in Lubbock. He lived a few houses down from my grandmother, so as children of the 60’s, my cousins and I played with his sons.

He would ask his sons to guess the last digit of the serial number on a ten dollar bill, which was a huge sum to a child then, and if correct, they got the money.

Evidently his gambling was legendary as was his insistence that participants could drink straight hard liquor 24/7, for a whole weekend, while golfing and playing poker.

Tech Terrace Park was just a hundred yards from his home. So 10 years later, when he was in his 50’s, Bobby would punt footballs in that park. By then (‘77) we were in our 20’s, To our amazement, he could put a whole lot of air and distance into a football even at his rather advanced age. Now that I’m 68, I consider 50’s young, but Bobby Layne was a great punter.
