ball was clearly OB

not to say it wasn't close or anything......but it was the right call....just saying

I'm sure there are 10 posts on this, but I don't really care

2nd to last play. you can see the ball hitting the ground while there is still 1 second on the clock. they probably need one of those clocks that goes to decimals in the last minute like in college bball.

It's true that the ball was out of bounds. It's also true that Colt didn't have a clue about what the clock situation was. We were lucky as hell to win that game.

I heard Colt's post-game remarks and watched the play about a dozen times. He did not have a clue about the clock and looked like a deer in headlights. I'm happy with the win, but that was the absolute worst clock-management I've ever seen.

Colt said that he "knew" their were 15 seconds left when they snapped the ball - Wrong.
We had only 9 seconds remaining. I love Colt too, but we got lucky.

It was embarrassingly bad clock management. We were lucky to win. All teams have to get a little lucky over a 13 game season to remain undefeated. Having said that, I would love to know what MB's explanation would have been if Colt threw the ball a little higher and we would have lost.

WE GOT LUCKY!

WE STILL WIN AGAINST ALABAMA!

HOOK EM'!

Didnt we have the ball at the same spot with 1:30 to go and not gain another yard?

HORRIBLE clock management and HORRIBLE play calling to end that game. It was almost like we were settling for a 45+ yd attempt instead of trying to get closer.

Very lucky on this one.

from where we were sitting we were in collective disbelief about the time running out and colt running the play. then when the pass hit the turf or whatever it hit, we collectively were relieved that we had 2 seconds left on the clock (turned out to be one, but one second is all we needed - thanks for the memory Hunter!!!!)

while I'm writing, just want to say that the Nebraska fans are tops - had lots of laughs with them

Were there any other cllocks other then the center screen?.There were play clocks s in the end zones for the teams but I didnt see a game clock that was easy for the teams to see other then looking up at the board.I think with out it in your face {like DKR} you lose track of time so to speak.

We were fortunate and yes we have had some poor clock management in the past in my opinion which doesn't mean much. Last year against Texas Tech we could have used up at least 10 seconds before our last td and that would have possible made a big difference. When we got the ball inside the 30 on the last play we actually went backwards. We were in Hungers range and we should have had straight handoffs to place the ball in the part of the field where Hunter likes to kick and let it run down to 3 seconds. We were fortunate but we found a way to win anyway.

At least ONE of the following MUST be true:
1. Colt did not know how much time was actually on the clock, just as others here have stated.
2. Colt was not aware of the rule that the clock does not stop until the ball hits an obstacle on the sideline (ground, person, railing, gatorade jug...)

Because no one plays that cavalierly throwing a pass of that trajectory 10 yards out of bounds to have it land with less than a second on the clock. No one.

Colt's statement about seeing that there was 15 seconds on the clock was a bit cryptic and open for interpretation. My son made the comment later that he thought Colt was saying there was 15 seconds on the clock when it was snapped.

My interpretation when he said it was that there was 15 seconds on the clock when he noticed that there was some confusion on our OL, not that he thought the ball was snapped with 15 seconds left. We went back and listened to the post-game interview, and it's hard to tell exactly what Colt was describing.

One thing is for sure. Colt would have done all Horn fans a favor if he had not thrown the ball that far OOB.

How many times in the last four years has McCoy and the team scored with very little time on the clock? Usually thank God this only applies to the end of the first half but invariably Colt and the team have gotten the job done. The same thing happened saturday. The job got done. Did it get a little ugly? Yes? Does it matter? No. If someone were to be entitled to have a mental screwup in my book it would be Colt McCoy, he has money in the bank.

Why make yourself miserable over this?

If there is anything Texas is better at than winning football games it is the fan bases self loathing.

Enjoy the ride and mellow out. So what if we got lucky. Alabama has had three or four of those endings this year and you don't see their fan base mutilating themselves.

Y Sanchez is right. It was very scary but we got the win. Nothing was given to us on that last drive. The Nebraska kicker did kick the ball out of bounds and on the pass to Jordan he clearly was horse collared and the penalty was obvious. In fact I can remember at least one other such play that it should have been called on Nebraska but wasn't and the commentators thought so too. Then there really was one second on the clock and the field goal was good for the win.

I hesitate to wade into this - maybe this has already been discused - but...

has anyone mentioned the lack of clocks on the field at Jerry World? It is my understanding that on the field when the qb is looking straight ahead he sees only a Play Clock - not an actual Game Clock.

I know from when I went out there earlier this year that there are very few game clocks and they are high on that ribbon board that rings the upper deck.

Secondly, if I understood right, the Play Clock was not in synch with the Game Clock, since the play started within the last 25 seconds. In all my years of watching football I don't think I"ve ever noticed that the Play Clock in football is not turned off in final seconds like it is in basketball.

Thus, if all Colt sees is a Play Clock and not a Game Clock then that could explain his non-chalance on the play. BUT, I have heard nobody use that as an excuse. Yet, it seems like a distinct possibility to me.

Hook'em!!!
