I was reading a story about the difference between the Chicago Fire's season and that of DC United's. The Chicago defense was prominently mentioned because they've only given up 3 goals in 7 games. And one of the big reasons for their success, is the play of 22 year old Bakary "Baky" Soumare.
It turns out that Baky is 6'4" and plays center defense.
So this got me thinking of a USMNT center defense combo of a ~6'3" Oguchi Onyewu & a 6'4" Baky Soumare. (NOTE: I always thought Gooch was 6'4", but US Soccer has him listed as 6'2", so who knows?)
Problem: Although Baky went to High School in the States (Parade "All-American") and then attended UVA for two years (only playing one after redshirting because of an injury), he only has a US Green Card. His not a US citizen (yet).
He was born in Mali and then moved to France at a young age. He didn't come to the USA until High School... but I'm thinking that with him playing like an All-Star this year...
