One of the only times I remember our fanbase being relieved that a kid "dropped us." He's a nice player, but he's proving to be a little immature, even for kids his own age. I have a feeling the coaches have wanted to drop him for awhile, but were hoping he'd save them the bad PR move and "drop us." He is supposedly close w/Anthony Wallace, so pulling this kid's schollie may have had some side effects. This way, we don't have to worry about hurt feelings.

We have 4-star Max Stevenson, and appear to be in good shape with 4-star Dan Tapko, so Barnett isn't a huge loss.

He was at your camp. You think Mack offers? I'd be shocked.

What ever happened to the defensive player from Nevada (?) who beat up his girlfriend? Did ya'll go ahead and sign him?
 
OU does NOT sign players with known serious attitude or behavioral problems who decommit and go elsewhere. They are firm on this principle.
 
All I know about Barnett is what I read in the paper, but I think OUengineer nailed it. The kid has some issues. I'd be surprised if Mack offers.
 
I'm glad OUEngineer didn't say, "Wow this sucks, we really wanted this kid". So far every player that has ever decommitted or left OU wasn't needed after all and the staff was secretly glad they left. What a streak of luck!!

Now why would be link us in his top 8? Im sure we are not going to give him an offer with MJ on board and a good chance with ASJ
 
i never post about an 18 year old kid, because i was once 18 and was a complete asshat. however, i do have some inside information on this kid. not big inside information, but information none the less.

I have a friend who works for nike and helps run all of the mini-camps they having been putting on in texas. They’ve been just about everywhere, from lufkin to san antonio. he texts me the other day saying he tested barnett. said he was the real deal athletically, but his words... "man, that kid is shady."

now, my friend doesn't have any more scouting ability that you or i. he is a marketing guy, that happened into this thing. but, he knows shady. when i asked him to expand, he just said that barnett told him he wasn't firm to us, and that he was basically holding a spot while he looked around. that was last week.

from his brief encounter with him, he assured me we would be better off without him. saying, that without seeing him play, he can only say this guy would not be good for any locker room.

anyway. based on that conversqation, i was kind of hoping this was over with quickly. now it is.

btw, he has tested several of your recruits as well. i always ask for dirt, if any presents itself, and so far all the guys he has tested for texas have been "good kids" from what he says.
 
Maybe his brother is telling him he should just walk on. (Did I get that right Wildcatter?)

Obviously, we don't have enough schollies left for him to merit one at this point.

He is the half brother of Texas defensive back Eryon Bennet!! I wouldn't be surprised if he got an offer. I talked to their dad in the airport on the way to the Rose Bowl and he thought he would end up a Horn!!
