Backup Sooner QB playing with fire

The Sooner's backup QB (who I had not heard of before the article) is calling out OSU's defense. He calls it "basic" and thinks he will light it up if he gets in the game. In addition to sounding like Uncle Rico, this guy is placing a pretty big target on Mayfield's back.

Not a good idea.

It's an open debate as to whether loudmouths cause focus or distraction for opponents --or teammates for that matter. When OU has been kicking *** and taking names, it hasn't been the Sooner style to be demure and respectful.

Yeah that was always the thing that pissed me off the most when they were beating our *** for stretches of years at a time. They'd talk all sorts of **** about beating us in October, and then they'd follow through with it. I was younger and more naive, believing that the locker room fodder would help our players.

If he was only looking at the film from OSU's games against Cupcake College and the Little Sisters of the Blind and Quadriplegic, then he is right...the potential is there to light THOSE schemes up. However, OSU had no incentive to show anything beyond the most basic of schemes...and Snowflake would STILL have to execute, something that he does not do consistently in games that actually matter.

Oh, and the backup clearly is unaware of the legend of Big Game Bob.
