background checks

I am needing to do a background check on a couple of people but have never done one before. Does anyone have a suggestion on what the best way for me to go about this is? The cheaper the better really but it does have to be pretty good. Thanks for any suggestions.

I haven't tried it, but I read in an article yesterday that the DPS charges something like $3.75 per check.

You might try their website, or just calling them.

Other online services are about $50 or so, and aren't always that up to date.

Depends on what all you need. In Oklahoma , public records are free.

I need the background checks for a couple of different reasons. First of all my son's mom is moving into her boyfriend's house which is over 100 miles away. I would just like to know a little about him and make sure he doesn't spend half his life in jail before they move. And secondly I am renting out a house and want to check up on the tenants. I know it's all a little overprotective but I have to do it.
