Back in December...

Back in December I made the claim that this was the worst team of the Rick Barnes era. You guys bashed me to no end.

Do you guys still disagree?

I try not to bash people. But was wondering, what was your reason for the comments?

I would say that the 1999 team that won the Big 12 Championship was probably the worst on paper. Unless I'm remembering incorrectly.

I mean, it's not his fault or anything, but 1998-99 was probably worse. We went with a 7-man rotation for the whole season, and one of those guys was McColpin the walk-on. We pussed out early in our weak non-conference schedule, losing to the likes of USF and other nobodies. We won the conference regular season in a weak year, and lost in the first round of the NCAAs to Gene Keady's combover. We probably shouldn't have been seeded as highly as we were. I loved the team, though, because of their effort and Klack's last hurrah and the emergence of Mihm as the best big man in the league.

This campaign is looking more and more like the one of my least favorite Barnes team: 2004-05. With Tucker out for not going to class, and Aldridge injured, it was a team that just didn't make it happen down the stretch. Who loses to Colorado twice in a season? Has anyone in the Big 8 ever lost to them twice? And interestingly enough, they kind of have the same dynamic as us. No true PG. Over-reliance on what we thought would be excellent big men who turned out subpar seasons. Having what we thought was a hot shooter suck at FG percentage.
