Babyproofing tips?

Anyone have any good babyproofing tips? I just started installing those demonic cabinet latches - evil personified. I also bought and installed some trigger guards as that was one of the first things that came to mind. What else? Any good tips for stereo equipment?

My sister and husband went out and bought a new entertainment center that had doors that could be locked and shut.

They have a setup of cushions, cardboard (over the buttons on the tv, leaving the spot for infrared remote to control tv) and other barriers.

I like the child safety guard that is like a belt. I have one of them on my fridge to keep my dog out of the refrigerator.

We have all our stereo equipment in a cabinet with child latches. We use an RF remote since IR will not work through a cabinet.

Also, I highly recommend the doorknob sleeves if you have round doorknobs. If you have the handle type door knobs, they make latches for the top of your door that prevents a child from opening the door. If it's a door that leads to the outside, I recommend using the flip latch that you install out of the child's reach. Remove all safety keys from power tools in your garage.

Put the cabinet latches on any kitchen drawer that contains knifes and/or forks.

Get some of those "Yucky Face" stickers for any possible dangerous chemicals (even if you have door/drawer latches). I think they're free at most HEBs and pharmacies.

Teach the kiddo that "Mr. Yuk" means "bad".

Lock up your booze (not a joke, kids will try to drink anything, booze can kill a little kid).

Put away or move out of reach anything that will or might fit in a kid's mouth (choking hazard).

Wall socket inserts.

Safety gates on stairs or doorways to rooms you don't want a kid in unsupervised.

Probably one of the best purchases my made when our son started to become mobile was this eight sided baby gate thing. I called it the coluseum. We could set him in that in the living room with some toys if we needed to get something done and not worry so much about what he could get into.

We did the whole latch thing and it stunk at first, but now its second nature and I find myself going for them when I'm at other peoples houses to open cabinets. We did plubs to.

Also we changed the springy door stops all over our house to solid rubber ones. The springy ones have a little rubber tip on the end that comes off easily. Our son was facinated by the BBOOOINNNNG sound and he took those off several times.

For stereo, tv, dvd stuff get a cabinet.

Similar to the 8-sided gate mentioned above, I saved a few bucks and bought one of those black metal dog crates. Its nearly indestructible, keeps my kid contained and I can see her through the bars. I throw in a few toys and a water bowl and I can pretty much forget about her. Did that on my last out-of-town trip and saved a bunch of money on a babysitter.

- If you have a boy, don't forget about the toilet lid latch. Not sure why, but it's only boys that are attracted to tossing stuff in the toilet.
- The door knob safety things are good if you want to shut a door and keep the kid completely out of a room.
- Go ahead and just move breakables up higher or pack them up for a while.
- The cabinet door latches only worked for two weeks with my little brother. They make magnetic ones now that require a key - those work better, but never got them for my own kids.
- I tethered speakers and floor lamps to walls using eye hooks and zipties.
