B/Ball recruits?

Tristan Thompson is our big player for next year. In looking at college basketball and on to the NBA, more athletic PF and SF are truly the trend and there are less "traditional centers" dominating the game. Remember that Dexter wasn't exactly the "bona fide" center coming out of high school either.

The only post player that I know of that the Longhorns have a shot at in 2011 is Rakeem Christmas. He is only listed at 6'8" so I'm not sure if he is really a true Center.
Tristan Thompson: will be here at Texas next year but I think he is more of a PF. I haven't heard of any other post player that Texas has a shot at.

Texas is playing better with Gary and Damion down low (6-6 and 6-7 respectively) than with "true center" Dexter Pittman.

Christmas is listed as a center at 6-8, but he is by no means a big guy and he's certainly not as big as Thompson is now. Also, Rakeem is a consensus top 10 player and being recruited by all the big boys.

So while it's true our big-man recruiting has certainly been lacking of late and poses problems, we are doing well with two guys who could basically play SF at the college level if they needed to. All it takes in college is decent height and desire as earlier poster stated.

Rich Barnes' offense is traditionally consistently better with the "5" being a pick and pop power forward. My two cents. When Pittman is in the game the offense is very one dimensional.

True but having Dexter Pittman is an amazing asset should we play a team that has a "Dexter-Like" player we need to guard.
