B 52S Bombing the Taliban?

WTH?
Biden sends B52s to bomb Taliban in Afghanistan and MSM doesn't cover it?
Or did I miss their coverage?

What's to report? Missiles destroy select targets. B-52s destroy an entire city. No survivors to interview.

The media and the Left define war crimes but ignore their own. Obama committed war crimes. Every President has under the technical definition of the rules aka Nuremberg.

Or so Noam Chomksy says...

I wonder how many women and children were killed by the bombs?

I know, I know they don't count. We have to kill them to keep the Taliban at bay.

None, absolutely none. Biden bombs only kill the real bad guys but not the innocent women and children. They are happy sipping on their tea or whatever they drink.

Afghanistan: we should pray the Chinese decide to go in and straighten things out; like the English, Russians, Americans did. It has all worked out so well.

As for that moron Bush, after we helped the Northern Coalition run Al Quaeda into Bora Bora we should have bailed. Nobody runs Afghanistan for long except the worst Afghans.

Wanna buy some heroin? Have sex with my sheep? You wanna female or male?

The arrogance of our Ivy League best and brightest never ends.

No chance that America can tame what the English and Soviets couldn't. It's a society that refuses to evolve, preferring their tribalism instead. Best case scenario is that we continue to use precision guided bombs to "fire a missile up a camels ***" when warranted and the CIA continues to be active in that area of the world to help with any early warning signs.

It's entirely possible the use of B52s wasn't to target Taliban but rather American equipment that was in danger of falling into their hands. We blew up our bases and equipment when we left Syria too.

Beg to differ a bit: lots of Afghans want a better place. That is why many helped us and why so many of their women went to school etc. but we were up against a relentless pack of predatory scum. Like the Comanches were until the plague and MacKenzie got them, they resemble a huge mitorcycle gang with an inadequate constabulary to restrain them. The worst are full of horrendous zeal. The good ones are cooked.

Afghanistan should be a place where Russia and the US can go to field test weaponry. Maybe we could alternate years. Of course, you need bag limits and/or declare the occasional non-year to maintain the herd.

How about we go twenty years of staying home and minding our own business and not blowing up Mohamed and Fatima's wedding party?

We got the Northern Alliance to run Al Q over to Bora Bora and then into Pakistan from the gitgo. After that it was a bunch Ivy League punks trying to play the Great Game. Phuque them.

Ding ding ding!

If we want to kickoff the downfall of China, trick them into taking over our "duties" in Afghanistan. That place is a bottomless pit at around 8,000 - 19,000 ft elevation. Empires go there to die. We can blast the crap out of them, and kill Bin Laden and select other leaders, but occupying that place long-term, year-after-year, decade-after-decade, against a bunch of hostiles? Doesn't even sound like what our military is built for. May not even be possible (for anyone, not just us).

Plus, if we're occupying a place long-term, year-after-year, decade-after-decade, doesn't that make such a place our colony?

Re: B-52s.

The durability, capability, and longevity of that plane are nothing short of amazing. After all these decades, the B-52s still roam around the world.

It really is remarkable. It has been upgraded and modified several times over the years. (The original had an old school WWII-style tail gun.) However, the general capabilities and mission are the same - carry an assload of weaponry of almost any type a long, long way at airliner speed and drop it on people and their stuff.

We've come up with all kinds of supposedly better bombers to replace it - the B-58 (much faster), the XB-70 (faster still), the B-1 (faster than the B-52 but cheaper and more practical than the XB-70), and the B-2 (can evade enemy radar). The B-58 has been out of service for 50 years. The XB-70 never entered service. The B-2 is too expensive and impractical to be widely used. The B-1 gets some action, but for everyday "blowing **** up" we still turn to the 65-year old B-52. And there are no plans to dump it.

The Russians do the same thing with the Tu-95, which is basically a turboprop-driven knockoff of a B-52.

I'm in awe at the pace of the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan. Kandahar fell today. Kabul is the last remaining capital. Our 3500 troops will hold it until our diplomats get out of dodge.

Then I remember this training video and it's clear why even with a 3-1 man advantage and superior military hardware the ANA was NEVER going to be able to stand on it's own.

Once again, some of our foreign “allies” whom we are defending seem completely inept. Within days after we vacated, the taliban entered the presidential building. Why don’t they fight hard for their own sorry country? If they don’t want to be ruled by a psycho islamo theocracy, then fight it. Tell them don’t come crying to us, it’s your own country and lives—and you outnumber and out equip them. If you won’t fight to win, then it sucks to be you.

The citizenry are all just hired mercenaries. They'll fight for the highest bidder and for the moment that's the Taliban. When the Western money is gone the warlords will rule again.
