Avoiding Traffic to Texas State Fair on Game Day

Hoping for a little sympathy for a Sooner fan living in Alabama (ugh; son born there and a crazed Tide fan) with family that are Longhorn fans (survived many a poke but no punch yet).

Staying with my Longhorn cousin in Ft Worth during game week. Other than leaving at daybreak to arrive at the fair at 8:00 am, do any Dallas Ft Worth area fans have any ideas on avoiding the day game traffic to the fair and the game?

Well, see, if we tell you the back routes, then we just create more traffic for ourselves. And that's not good.

Hook 'em!
OU sucks!

I've gone up Instate 45 every year the morning of the game, and I've never had a problem with traffic, especially when showing up 3+ hours before the game starts.

If you leave early enough to get there at 8AM traffic isn't going to be an issue no matter which way you take...

If you are serious and arrive in the downtown Dallas area around 8 AM you will have no problems with traffic. take 1-30 East and exit on 2nd Ave to Fair Park.

Edit: Hwy 75 exit Haskell has always been my secret route to the game - good alternative if you get there later than 8 AM.

Funny, Texas Taps. If you did take that route, you certainly wouldn't have to worry about game-day traffic (unless it is Tceh-BU traffic).
