Austin's coldest beer?

I like my beer extremely cold. So cold it almost burns. So cold my beer teeters on the razor-thin threshold between liquid and solid.

Where can I find this draft beer in Austin? Any place that doesn't pour beer into frozen glassware will be immediately disqualified. Bonus points awarded for places that serve beer in "Big-O's" a la George's in Waco.

Catfish Parlor is a damn good nominee.

That new "Bone Daddy" type place on Stassney has a digital thermometer dislpay on the wall letting you know how cold the tap beer is..

My brother in law owns a bar and I do know that you have to have one of those super cold beer taps and hoses out of the keg to keep it that cold, or you need to request that the bar tender let it run for a while to get past the beer that has been sitting in the hose and is probably room temperature.

I think they are called "cobra systems" or something.

I will let the bar tender crowd chime in on this.

You should check my "Beers to try list" in the Ester's Follies Forum!!

There is a total hole in the wall, North of 183, at the Burnett Rd exit. Don't take the first McNeil, but the next right on McNeil. Across from the gas station that will be on your right is a total hole in the wall.

They serve domestic beers so cold your fillings will hurt. They are friendly, have washer games outside, and pool tables inside. They are open crazy hours, mainly a happy hour crowd.

If you go, let me know the name of the place,! p.s. the waitress/bartenders are fine as fresh honey.

45 DEGREES, PEOPLE. 45 DEGREES.

American macro-swill should always be served at or below freezing.

The coldest beer I've ever had in Austin is at Pacific Star restaurant off 183 around Anderson Mill Road. It's a dive that serves decent fried seafood and Cajun-like cuisine, it's pretty inexpensive, and the beer is really, really cold.

Green Mesquite serves Shiner Bock in frigid schooners that will slow your pulse to a crawl. Unfortunately, I can't remember if it's tap or bottle. Sorry.
