Austin Wedding Venues

I'm looking into different places in and around Austin to get married, and I need some suggestions. Anybody that has been to a wedding or actually gotten married in/around Austin, please post up and let me know what you thought of the venue. Thanks.

I realize it's a broad question, but I intended it that way so I would get feedback from all different kinds of places. I didn't want to limit the responses by giving too narrow of a criteria list. I just want to hear from people that have actually been to these places, because we've done about as much online window shopping as we can do, but it's hard to tell how a place actually looks from pictures. If you've been to more weddings than you can count, then just list your top 3-5.

If I have to put down some criteria, then: preferably an outdoor setting in the hill country, maybe a lake view if possible, a decent indoor area for contrast, roughly 100 guests. Total budget of about $10k.

I attended weddings at both the Allen House and Green Pastures and both were memorable.

Both indoor/outdoor venues and both comfortably accomodated 100 people. Not sure how much they cost though.

Wouldn't expect them would be cost prohibitive.

Peacocks at Green Pastures were a nice touch. Its also a little more scluded than Allen House

I have been to a wedding at Old Town in Kyle as well and had a good time. They had the wedding ceremony outside (despite being early June). But it was a great time and very rustic feel.

I live not far from Lady Bird Wildflower. I didn't know they hosted weddings. Nice.

We had our reception at the Connally Banquet Hall at the Alumni Center (we had just under 200 and it fits many more) and we loved it. Of course not lake or hill country but UT. :)

Check out the Barr Mansion, a historic old house that the owners use to hold weddings and reunions, they have added a commercial kitchen building for catering, and has a nice outdoor garden. It is east of IH-35, though, so no hill country or lake views. Worth checking out.

I went to a wedding at San Michele last April. I thought it was amazing-- the pictures on their web site really don't do it justice. Very reasonably priced too. I'd highly suggest you check this place out.

Some other friends of ours got married at Creekside Pavillion-- it's right across from the Saltlick. They got married in February, and since that's wedding "off season", the owners gave them a really good deal. Their food was fantastic.

I have another friend who got married this summer at Nature's Point on lake Travis. I didn't go, but I hear from friends that it was very beautiful.

We did the Barr Mansion 10 years ago and loved it and the people running it. They've improved it since then.

Chapel Dulcinea at the Wizard Academy

It's "free"....i went to a wedding there a few weeks back and it isn't a bad place....the website is very strange though....but you could save your $$$ and have everyone go to the Salt Lick afterwards for a reception.

Whatever happened to the days of just getting married in a church?

My cousin got married at the Barr Mansion and it was lovely. This was several years ago, and I hear it's gotten even better.

Good luck. Remember this: You don't know what happiness is until your married ... and then it's too late!

Daughter got married at Chapel Dulcinea last year. Came in during week were playing KSt, went to game (boo) then went to chapel on Sunday, did the
ceremony, small reception area right after for the folks that came in. Mostly
immediate families. Very pretty and really accommodating. They came in
from Nashville - she found it on internet. All in all a great time, then we
had a bigger reception in Nolensville, big barn site outside of Nashville
for the friends, etc. crowd.
Good luck to you!!

My wife and I are from Houston, but got married in Austin. The service was done at the church on campus (the one across from Littlefield Fountain) and our reception was at the Alumni Center. We couldn't have asked for better venues, especially the Alumni Center.

If you want more details, let me know.

I've only been there for Sunday Brunch but I would think Green Pastures would be hard to beat. It has the ambience, and the great food and service. Key West is not so bad either but that was the honeymoon. Good Luck.
