Austin to Sante Fe Road Trip

Leaving Georgetown next Friday at 7 p.m. and driving to Sante Fe. I would rather do an all-nighter and let the kids sleep in the back than anything else.

If it weren't the Friday begining spring break I would just drive to OKC and take a left; however, the thought of dealing with I-35 traffic until midnight'ish just tires me before the trip even begins. When I try to plot out the back-roads/more direct route, all I see are same pain-in-the-*** small towns that will slow me down every 30 minutes.

Anyone have any suggestions which way to go?

What's wrong with the straight shot? You're going to add 200 miles plus the aggravation of going through major metropolitan areas. If you insist on interstate highways, at least i-10 speed limit is 80 mph.

Austin, Lampasas, Brownwood, Coleman, Abilene, Sweetwater, Lubbock, Clovis, Ft. Sumner, Santa Rosa, Clines Corners, Santa Fe.

OR 183 to 84 to IH 20/84 to 84 to IH40 to 285. I've done this route at least 20 times. No doubt this is the faster way.

Say hi to my Dad and Family in Santa Fe! I suggest stopping at an Allsup's and getting some burritos. Also plan on rolling down the windows and grossing your kids out. But it will be fun.
