Austin bypass: Toll road

I've heard the new toll road that bypasses Austin essentially is finished. I'll be making my way from Dallas to San Antonio on Wednesday afternoon for Thanksgiving and would LOVE to miss Austin rush hour the day before Turkey Day. Where do I pick it up? Is there any way I can miss it? And how much cashola will it ding my Toll Tag for ?

Thanks.

I know it is open from Georgetown to the airport. Don't know about anything further south than that.
290E to Georgetown is $3.

I would recommed it though. Take it from Georgetown to 71, then head over to 183 and head south. You can cut across to I35 on several of those backroads. It's not the best solution yet, but it will save you most of the Austin downtown time.

i headed north to dallas last night and took the mopac toll to SH 45... that was some smooth **** and it costs a whopping 75 cents. real nice

As a North Austinite that travels to Dallas quite often, I love the SH45 tollroad. I just wish they would have extended it further out to meet I-35 in Georgetown. You still have to get onto 35 and deal with the Round Rock traffic.

with the traffic these days i wonder if the 67 to 281 route from dallas isnt almost worth the extra hour on your trip. or if it even adds an extra hour at all.

im still hitting a consistent 3 to 3.25 hrs from downtown austin to east side of 635 in Dallas. That doesn't count when theres something major ie tgiving or ou wkend.
