At yesterday's Spring Luncheon for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Capital Area, and in response to questions from the audience (all questions came from kids), Augie provided the following:
1. funniest thing ever in the dugout? did not respond to the question, but said the best play he's ever seen was Quintanilla's throw over the ducking Wayne Graham in the 2002 CWS game against Rice. He said we awarded Graham a letter in baseball for the duck.
2. was asked why baseball teams don't have cheerleaders? because they would date the players.
3. was aked at what age he thought a coach was too old to continue coaching? at age 100
Augie is fantastic, and it was a real pleasure to see him interact with the kids, and to hear his story about the most important someboy in his life.
Also had some previews from Linklater's "Inning by Inning".
