second largest home court this season at 8,159. There were 8,567 for Tennessee.

Got another chance to get 8, 000 when OU comes to town.

Great to see those kind of crowds.

A lot of the butts in the seats yesterday were Baylor fans. We need Longhorn fans to show up and make noise. I couldn't believe that a group of 8-10 young people (looked like a Baylor Spirit group) could get a resounding cheer for Baylor's team going when WE were playing offense on our home court. That really burns me. I sit in season ticket seats and I was SURROUNDED by Baylor fans. They were not happy with my cheering for my own team and made no bones about the fact that they thought I was yelling and clapping too loud! Please, TEXAS fans, don't put me in that position for the OU game. Show up and yell, yell, YELL for our team.

and while I'm on my rant, Why doesn't the Erwin Center do to other teams what they do to us when we visit them ? We shiould reserve the mezzanine for them and not let them move down to the floor level. I can't tell you how uncomfortable it is to sit up next to the heaters at the gym in Waco. Why do we seat our opponents fans right down next to the court? Because we don't have enough folks in the stands to fill up the seats.

there were Baylor fans all around our section as well. i don't know why the ticket office puts them there....it's annoying. and i heard Baylor fans complaining about it as well. it's not fun for either group of fans when they are mixed together.

and i agree, BU fans were cheering loud towards the end of the game, especially during the 30 second time-outs. why wasn't the band playing during those time-outs??? there was nothing playing. the band director just stood there while BU fans were cheering. our cheerleaders were up trying to start the Texas-Fight cheer, but you can only do that cheer so many times. eventually we either need the band to play the Fight song or put some music on the loud speakers. it was ridiculous.

Or we could just cheer louder than the Baylor fans, since there are a lot more of us no matter where they are sitting.

I'll be at the FEC next Sunday for OU so I'll be helping push us over 8k. Maybe I can get them to count the seal, too. Hopefully there'll be some decently loud students in one of the O-Zones I can move over with.

Totally agree. I think I've said this before but things will not change at the Erwin Center until we start to get a "younger" crowd to show up that is willing to make some noise. (ie. students) I'm not saying that to offend anyone on this board because I know all of us on here yell, but it's all of the other people who just sit there & make no noise. I have a couple who sit a couple of rows behind me that are constantly yelling at me to sit down when we stand up for the team. I'm surprised they even stand up for "the eyes".

Also, about the band not playing. I believe that is all cordinated between the annoucer & the band. I don't agree with it. I think that we should be able to show some spontaneity when the situation calls for it. Especially at the end of the game in that situation.

stat, you're absolutely right, we should have cheered louder than the BU fans. but unfortunately, that just wasn't happening. i was screaming at the top of my lungs, and i'm sure i drive the people in my section crazy. like OrangeForLife, there is a couple in our section that tells people to sit down, too (we might actually sit in the same section).

it was just surprising that for 3 straight time-outs nothing was playing. maybe it was because there was a different announcer-guy (don't know the technical term!). i'm not sure. just wished they would have played some pumpy music or something. hopefully it won't be like that for the OU game.

You solve the whole problem by putting a quality product on the floor that isn't painful to watch, and you fill the seats with fans. I'm not saying you have to win every game, but you need to at least look good when you lose. If a team does that their fans will come watch.

Until we get some players with some passion for Basketball. The stands will continue to be empty. No one wants to watch a team, that does not fight! Maybe theres too much makeup on their faces. I assuming thats why we get out hustle all the time by slow teams. I use to drive from Dallas. It did not matter what day the game was on. But now with that effort! Its not worth driving way down there. And then on the way home, you are mad at yourself for coming down.

Stat, hope to see you and your seal there Sunday. I have been pleasantly surprised by the attendance of students to most games. Hopefully, that will continue to grow.
