ATT U-Verse or Comcast?

About to finish up with new house build. Need to get Internet and TV service going. I've had Comcast forever. U-verse is available in the new house. Any thoughts? My wife has her own business and has a comcast email address. It isn't the end of the world to change it. That is probably the only thing that has me considering staying Comcast. Is it worth it, or should i switch?

New subdivision? Is the U-Verse available Fiber to your home or to the node? If Home, I'd pick the U-Verse. If Not, Comcast it is.

I've got friends that say U-Verse is the greatest thing since toilet paper ... fast downloads, beautiful HD, etc. I also have friends that say it's crap ... signal drops, slow internet, etc. Note that they live in different subdivisions here in Ft Worth.

I'm stuck w/ Direct TV until I get out from under the thumb of their two-year commitment, then I plan on switching to U-Verse because my neighbors rave about the service.

I'd stick with the known quantity until hearing from the experience of some of your neighbors who hook up to it.

Think i'm just gonna stick with Comcast. looks like that for the same price i'm paying now for just net and TV, i can get phone bundled too. really don't care about a landline, but need one for alarm monitoring. plus, i'm lazy. i know the channels already and i have one comcast HD box already. i hate dealing with Comcast staff, they are bunch of idiots, but as far as service, i've never really had any problems.

The only REAL reason I went from Comcast to Uverse was the MUCH better DVR....no comparison the Comcast DVR sucked out loud!

U-Verse compresses their HD far more than any other provider currently. Their DVR is fantastic which makes it more attractive to those who don't know / care that they're getting jobbed on picture quality and prefer an excellent DVR.

U-Verse is technologically limited by the fact that it uses the old copper phone wiring from a new box on the curb somewhere nearby your house. Their technology will be limited in terms of internet speed, etc. until they run fiber to your home. There are more compression tricks / etc that will help them keep it somewhat respectable but it won't be able to catch up with cable or a fiber-to-the-home provider like Verizon FIOS.

I'm stuck with Cable due to too many trees facing south for satellite and no U-Verse at my address yet. It's expensive but has been extremely reliable and the internet is fast. Their phone works well too.
