Athlete's foot

So I think I have athlete's foot. The toenail on my big toe is showing classic symptoms.

Any recommendations on topical treatments? It seems like Lamisil and Lotrimin are the two leading products. Anybody have any positive/negative experiences with either? Just curious about how long it will take to heal.

Or should I skip this stuff and see a podiatrist?

Thanks.

I cured it with Lysol back in junior high. Burned like a mother, but never came back.

By the way - I am not a doctor and I may have done genetic damage with my cure for athlete's foot.

Is DWP a Moderator again?

use tinactin. wash AND dry your feet a few times during the day. change your socks often, and don't wear the same shoe two days in a row.

Use lamisil cream twice a day for two weeks. Spray all of your shoes with any over the counter althete's foot spray. Don't ever walk barefoot in locker room or hotel room floors. (Wear flip-flops). If the fungus has gotten into the nail you likely will need oral medications. If you are not better in two weeks then see a dermatologist, not a podiatrist. A podiatrist is the guy in your UT biology class who got Ds and couldn't get into dental school.
