Yeah...that "local kid" thing is way over rated. The Stros should dump Berkman also.

Berkman went to Rice, but he's not a local kid. Actually from New Braunfels. And still playing well - his batting average keeps climbing through the year. Don't write him off yet unless you want to use him for trade bait.

Sorry, I don't think my sarcasm came through on that one. I liked Backe, was nails for the Stros in the playoffs, and am a huge fan of The Big Puma.

I think local connections do motivate players.
