Astros rocked again

Will be 0-3 record after an imminent sweep by the Giants. Wretched hitting team as usual, weak bullpen and little hope for this longtime Astro fan

As a cubs fan, it greatly pains me to say that the cards will easily win this horrible division again. I would gladly take the stros winning it. Instead, they will lose 100 games and be on tv every damn night.

Wade (and/or his Philly scouting department) deserve credit for drafting stars like Utley, Howard, and Hamels.

However, the deals he has given to Matsui and Lyon are indefensible. Also, trading the farm for Tejada, but getting nothing (but a couple sandwich picks) for Tejada when he blew back to Baltimore in free agency, is ridiculous.

It's clear to me that Wade's background is in PR, rather than baseball. His moves usually seem motivated by PR goals rather than by sound baseball thinking.

I don't really have an issue with Ed Wade at this time. He's starting to rebuild the farm, which had gotten pretty bad. The big club, however, will be rebuilding for a while.

Oh No now the Astros have to face the mighty Phillies, this should be very ugly.

Astros off to their worst start since the 1983 team went 0-9 to start that season. Worst start in 27 years!! Only winless team in MLB.

The '88 O's started the season 0-20. NO WAY the Astros get close, as they have a 9-game homestand starting next week with Florida, Pittsburgh, and Cincy.

Albert Pujols who has always Owned the Astros has 5 homers and 14 rbis, the Astros as a team have 2 homers and 12 rbis for the season.

Relax guys, baseball season doesnt really start until like, the end of August. And by then, football is about to begin.

The Orioles actually lost 21 games to start 1998, getting outscored by 85 runs in those games, which works out to losing by 4 runs a game.
The Link

The Astros are 0-7 and have been outscored by 29 runs. That works out to . . .

Still, 9 games at home against the Marlins, the PIrates, and the Reds should end the streak, even if it gets that far.

As a Cards fan, I will try to offer an olive branch and some perspective to the start of this season. It's a bit too early to panic, here's why:

From the what I've seen and read, scoring runs is the biggest issue with this team. Thus far, the Stros have faced 2 playoff teams (Philly, STL) and one near-playoff team (SF) from last year. They've also faced the 3 of the 4 best pitchers (by far) in the National League. Chances are they won't see a guantlet like this the rest of the season. Once they get a win or two under their belt, the confidence will return. After this road trip, you have home series with Florida, Pitt, and Cincy. That's a chance to carve away and inch back toward .500. The season doesn't start until mid-August. And teams that are hovering .500 are usually at least in the Wild Card hunt till September. Now if you're 15 games under .500 at the All-Star, then you can push the panic button. Until then, I wouldn't lose my mind.

Well well well, they finally won a game. Miracles do happen.

If the Astros and Cards were dating, I would say they let Houston win that one. Bud Norris, the new bird killer.

Well...what do you know. Here we are, a week removed from the cliff-jumping posts and the Astros have just completed their second straight series win (with one game to go) and they are winners of 5 of their last 6. Berkman is back in the lineup and they are coming up with some timely hitting. And it could always be worse, you could be demoting your supposed ace to the bullpen (Cubs).....nothing like having an $18 million dollar setup man....had to get that dig in.

As always, my therapy posts are free of charge and rememeber kids, the season is an ultra-marathon, not a 5K.

As a Cubs fan I want them to crash and burn so they can start selling off whatever players may have value to somebody. It looks like I will get my wish. Lou is going to wish he had retired.

They will have to eat a lot of contracts because nobody is going to pay Soriano 17mm per year for the next five years. Gotta be one of the worst contracts in major league history.
