@#$%#$ Asteroids Falling on West Campus

That WAS some big hail. Fortunately, not too much of it fell.

Some golf ball sized pieces at my house. And close to half an inch of much-needed rain, too.

If anyone wants a free inspection or checkup of their roof to see what kind of damage might have occurred, feel free to send a PM.
This is a pic of hail that came down around North Loop 1/2 way between Burnet & Lamar:

I had smaller sized (nickel) @ my house in Oak Hill & I guess that based on this directional trend it moved (in our town / county, anyhow) from the SouthWest to the East by NorthEast...

Hail in a nickel size can do damage when it's being pushed by a 50+ mph wind... I don't really think we had that sorta help.

Hail in golfball size like the pic shows is going to probably cause damage to a roof that's 10+ years old & a 3 tab (also called a 20 year) product.

The bottom pic is a great shot; this will cause a LOT more damage than the top pic, although the top one is sufficient enough to cause a shingle failure for the right type
of shingle.

Again, I'd like to come out & take a look if anyone is intersted in a checkout.

Worst hail I ever saw was in Austin circa 1993. I lived off Mopac. It wasn't particularly large but it carpeted the ground by several inches. It looked like a snow storm in the middle of the Summer.

yeesh. i was sitting in my truck by the boats ramps near mozarts on lake austin, watching the lightning blast the hills on the other side of the lake. within seconds i was getting blasted by hail and falling limbs. jacked up my windshield.

all in all.. kinda fun. power's out all over the place.

I think the North Cedar Park / South Leander area got whacked nicely... I'll be placing calls to customers from 4 yeaers ago & see if they'd like a checkup.

I think Round Rock got a good pasting as well & the winds were good enough on this last round to really push the hail; the one from a few days ago was a bit weak in the high winds department.

I went to meet a plumber at our old house near campus, and had a huge mound of hailstones built up at the base of the driveway where they had washed down. The whole neighborhood was covered with leaves, it was a pretty odd sight. Up here in Westlake I don't think we got any hail so it was a surprise when I rolled into the old neighborhood and it looked like a hurricane had blown through.
