Ash or Yurcich

I think Yurich IF LEFT ALONE! Maybe I just didn't notice, maybe it's because I was across the field, but it appeared that Yurich & Ash were more involved last night, more rah rah, more animated. Herman appeared more Mack Brown hand clapper.

I think both are good.
This is an excuse - but it would be shortsighted not understand that this is a valid reason. Both come in during a crazy year where they can’t even meet with the team (very much) to get a new offense and defensive system in place.
Defense is tackling
Offense looked outstanding at times
Pro Tip ....#5 can only run the ball when #5 is in the game, #5 is Hiesman quality, so put #5 in the game.
Roshan looks really good too, but as a breather- not the nonsensical series back and forth.

I think Yurcich has IT.

Ash may or may not. Can’t tell yet.

If Yurcich remains as our OC, I’d like him to hand* pick an OL coach of his choosing.

*no pun; I doubt he’d pick Coach Hand.

Both were an upgrade from what we had, but the numbers speak for themselves. #19 in total offense, basically tied with OU, #64 in total defense. Both had their good and not so good players so I don't think that big of a difference can be attributed to talent.

That said, the defense was pretty bad to start the season and improved significantly so even with a new coach I would have no problem with whoever that is keeping both coordinators.

Meyer loves Ash. Whether meyer ultimately becomes our coach or not, that is high praise. I would think the next coach should keep him on. Designing defenses to play in the Big 12 is no easy task. Other conferences/commentators claim we play no defense in the big 12 but I think it's more that the offenses are just so damn good. This year may be an exception but in years past, big 12 offenses could score all day long against anybody and I mean anybody.

Definite overall defensive improvement but I still do not understand our pass defense. How in the heck do receivers get so wide open so consistently? If ours could do the same I’d just say that’s the way good offenses are these days but I do not see it happening with other teams like it does with us. Well at least not with the consistency. Gripes me.

Recruit better football smart the real deal 6'4"/190lbs guys with world-class 60-meter speed who did not attend the Prime-Time football camp.

Offense started off good then regressed until final game and bowl game..
Defense started off bad then got better.
I'm happy with both so far and look forward to seeing what a full spring and fall practice brings.

Totally agree. How many times in Herman's excursion would we have been better off with Sam under center for a QB sneak, BUT the binder said to hand the ball off 7-8 yards deep behind a line that cannot hold its blocks

It wasn't the play as much as the personnel.

With Bijan or J Whitt, that's a TD.

Love Roschon, but that is not his play
I miss the Mack era where UT had a 5,11 250lb back like Cody Johnson that would get you 3 yards, without fail , every time.

I hated Mack Brown using the lardass football formation. Usually worked the first time in the first game, then lost yardage. The defense always knew what was coming, stacked the line, and stopped it.

You can, however, always say MB developed good DL for the NFL, they just played RB as Texas.

Sabre,
I lived that formation. I am going off memory , but 3rd and Goal from the 3 resulted in a TD from Johnson.
Late in the game to preserve the W, against a tired D- Johnson would come in a keep the chains and click moving.
