Also, without Keyes' uncharacteristically patient at-bat, the home run would not have happened. Everyone in the ballyard knew they wouldn't give Kevin anything to hit, but that's Not stopped him from swinging in the past. But last night he showed real maturity at the plate, and the walk then gave Rupp the opportunity to be the hero.

As Augie said on the postgame show, they were trying to get Kevin to strike himself out swinging at bad pitches...and two weeks ago that's what would have happened.

We also have to back it up one more batter and give major props to Jordan Weymouth for not only keeping the game alive, but doing it with a double so that first base was open for NU to use that strategy with Keyes. Jordan had only two Ks and two walks to show for his previous four plate appearances. What a memorable first collegiate hit for the freshman!

2 team wins so far this weekend. Great defense and pitching on Saturday. Green and Jungman both looked good. Bats just need to wake up a bit.

My opinon at the end of the season these guys will be right behind us in the standings. And have a good enough team to make noise in the post season.
