Looking to book a trip to Aruba this October. Leaning towards Aruba due to location away from hurricane alley. Also activities like windsurfing and kite surfing caught our attention.

Should I consider any other locations before pressing submit? Any Mexico destination steals right now with all the offers to come back to Mexico that would be cool and out of the way from hurricanes?

Hurricanes in October are pretty rare. Usually June - September is the time to worry about those. Any that start in October, because of steering currents, typically start in the Atlantic and move northeast away from land. You should be pretty good to go for Aruba at that time of year.

there are great deals in mexico. the ritz in cancun is giving rooms away. i have a friend there now paying about 150.00 a night.

Aruba is nothing special. Mexico or the Virgin Islands would be a much better choice.

My unsolicited .02 -- spend your money elsewhere. The Aruban police/gov't bumblefucking (or worse, covering up) the investigation of the disppearance of that high school girl a few years ago left a real bad taste in my mouth.
