The NBA fix is on.

I think he had been doing better since he joined the Lakers. I predicted a 10-game suspension.

blonthang, I agree with you. But I think that there is more to this. The NBA wants a Lakers-Bulls finals and is not excited about San Antonio or Oklahoma City.

10-game suspension would have been consistent with the punishments associated with the ten worst suspensions in NBA history. Sure, he's the owner of #1 from an incident 8 years ago. But does he deserve more than Vernon Maxwell running into the stands to beat up a heckler?

Was it Vernon Maxwell's 14th suspension?

There should be some cumulative effect at some point. Seven games is little more than a slap on the wrist taking his history into account.

Maybe I read it on a thread here or heard it on the radio but isn't this something like his 14th or so suspension?

He's had 4 NBA-dealt suspensions. The fight, his arrest, his other elbow one, and the current one.

He's had plenty of team-dealt suspensions, mostly for being an idiot. Rick Carlisle suspended him for asking for time off to promote his rap album. Stupidity is a good reason to get some unpaid time off from a job.

I don't see the warrant for making an example of him in this situation. The Link shows that he's changed a lot since he made it to LA. If you want to hand down a Kermit Washington suspension for something that doesn't equate, then you're not going by how the NBA has always handled these situations. If anything, Bynum's body slam in the playoffs last year should have been handled tougher.

I don't like Artest nor do I care to meet him, but I think fairness should prevail.

Re: I'd suggest your legal staff would say: "Fire him, NOW!!!! before you lose the company."

You're forgetting that this is professional sports, and there are more out there for whom winning at any cost is more important that the warm fuzzy of doing what's right - and they're all on Artest's side.

And now Rajon Rondo bumps a ref and claims it was just an accident. It's like 6 year old kids in adult bodies. "No Mom I didn't kick Bobby, my foot just slipped."

Artest should be permanently banned from the NBA. Then he should be charged with assault and thrown in prison for a while. That elbow he threw could have killed Harden if it hit him slightly differently. If it hit the front of his face it would have broken several bones. Just because you are on the basketball court doesn't give you the right to commit crimes against other players.

I play basketball all the time and I have never once thrown an elbow at someone's head.

Artest has shown time and time again that he is a ticking time bomb. He has no remorse for his actions. He doesn't deserve to be in the NBA. He is lucky the game was in LA or a local authority would have probably tried to charge him with assault.
