Post any thoughts here from watching what is a plethera of college hoops today.

I'm kicking it off (a little late) with Syracuse v UND at the carrier dome. I'm rooting for UND b/c it helps texas, I've always hated Jim Boheim (he's a cheating piece of crap but has nice taste in women) and I"m still not over Melo ending TJ Ford's college career before he cut the net down.

30-24 as I turn on the TV- no idea what's happened. Will post more if the muse strikes, please feel free to do the same.

Some big time games today. OU v A&M might be interesting (go Ags- ugh) at 1:00. G-town Duke at 12:30. Of course texas at 3:00. Good game involving PItt and I forget who kicking off the double header at night on ESPN. UNC v Miami- chance to see a former horn leading his own team and always fun (for me anyway) watching any Roy Williams team. Plus another 10 or so games on tv I didn't even mention.

Post away.

Syracuse up 16 then UND goes on an 8-0 run actually hitting 3's for the first time all day. Timeout and Syracuse comes out and hits a couple buckets in a row to extend the lead back to 14 with about 10 to go.

UND just hasn't hit crap all day, they are under 35% last I saw. They play absolutely horrible defense (as proven by us actually scoring 80 on them) and when they don't hit their J's they are not even close to an elite level team. But, they hit their J's more often then not but not today.

30,000+ at the carrier dome today- good crowd even with the early tip time. I think I'm out on this game to toggle between Duke v G-town and OU v A&M.

Also, we got massively screwed in Tejas as we are stuck with KU v CU instead of unbeatens in Wake and Clemson.

What makes you say that Boeheim is a cheat? I'll concede that he doesn't run the most disciplined team, but I've never heard any allegations of cheating.

Duke v G-town is beign played at a high level right now.

I've only seen Duke play Michigan (twice) so this will be fun to see them play someone high level.

Duke's schedule seems to be much less manly N/C then it has been in the past.

ND is just not nearly as good on the road as they are at home. They lost to St. John's earlier this season, too.

Duke is busy flopping their way to a win. That's three questionable offensive foul calls against Greg Monroe in the first half.

Gg-town got really cold ending the half, 0-9 from the floor. Duke took a g-town lead and finished like 18-4 on the way to an 11 oint halftime lead.

A&M looked like warmed over dogshit for much of the first half. They've crawled back into the game with OU up 5 with 40 seconds left and sooner ball.

Haven't really played at a high level getting back into it, but get back into it they did.

G-town with a nice run to cut it to 5 at the first TO. Going to the half with the A&M game before toggling over.

OSU pimp slapping Baylor last I saw. I think I was wrong on the order in the south. Right now I'm saying:

OU
UT
OSU
Baylor
A&M
Tech

No Class vs Less Classy on ESPN...

I have no idea who to root for. My hate from their football teams has now stretched into basketball. The BCS bull honkey with OU, and the late hits on McCoy from aggy.

I guess we should root for OU to keep winning because we lost to them... But couldnt OU losing today help just as much? And we get to make fun of sooner for losing to aggy in basketball.

The reason why I say that about syracuse:
The Link

1st program in the big east ever to get put on probation, 17 years into the conference. 2 year tourney bans don't get handed out for no reason.

Talk to bob knight sometime about Boheim.

I'd want Rick Barnes fired on the spot if his program got placed on 2 years probation, had a tourney ban and wasn't allowed off campus to recruit.

ON THE SPOT.

Baylor OSU game is looking good.

Probably end up going into overtime and overlapping our game so we miss the first 10 minutes as always.

I swear it happends every time.

None of those allegations were directly linked to Boeheim. Most involved some free meals or clothes provided to current and former players. That's not exactly FedEx cash in envelopes.

This was also from the late 1980's - long before the arrival of the Internet and the kind of public scrutiny that we see now. There's been nothing in the last 15 years to indicate a pattern of behavior. To call him a cheat is unjustified.

It's laughable that you invoke Bob Knight as some paragon of virtue. The fact that Knight may dislike Boeheim is favorable to Jimmy B.

Bob Knight is a paragon of virtue. He's a total and complete ******* and a lunatic, but I don't know that anyone has ever run a program cleaner then Bob Knight ran his.

You asked why I said that and I told you. Again, he's virtually the only guy in the history of the big east to get his program put on probation. It was bad enough that someone associated with Oklahoma dropped the hammer on him (ah sweet irony).

Also, the baylor bears got lucky as heck. OSU got screwed on a whistle with 2.5 seconds left I'd be irate if my team did.

Of course the game was going OT- there was no doubt.

A&M and OU were in an ugly type game. Griffin got in foul trouble and didn't play alot.

MSU v Ill was a good one. MSU pulled away at the end so we got JIP on the PItt v Louisville game with Pitt up something like 17-4.

Louisville couldn't hit the broad side of a barn but neither could Pitt and Louisville abused them on the offensive boards. That generally doesn't happen to Pitt since the days of Ben Howland (speaking of which he blew one to ASU in OT at Pauly diminishing our win there a bit but maybe putting us back ahead of UCLA in the seeding sweepstakes.)

Fun game kinda.

Ill Chicago had Butler down 15 but they caught them and kind of boat raced them at the end.

Butler is solid, scrapy, not particularly athletic from what I saw and they have a kid so pasty he glows. About what you'd expect from a decent mid major team, depending on their draw they could be playing in the second week of the tourney.

A more Big 12 look at things

I'll tell you what - I know we beat them, but I think Mizzou's going to have a really good team by the end of the year. I watched them today and while ISU is not good, Mizzou just simply boatraced them. It was also good to hear Mitch Holthus (Chiefs play by play legend) doing Big 12 basketball. As an aside, if you've never heard Mitch do a Chiefs game, you folks are missing a treat. As bad as they are on the field, their radio broadcast team are sure fire HOFers.

OSU/BU was a really good one. Refs jammed OSU though. Can't call a foul at the end of the game like that.

I can't believe how bad KSU is in basketball this year. They were here tonight against Nebraska and they had nothing - absolutely NOTHING. They're already 0-3 in conference, and they're going to struggle in most of their conference games.

Lots of great games yesterday. UCLA really fell apart down the stretch and Duke continued to look impressive.

Not a good night for Michigan. They honored the '89 Championship team at halftime and wore the throwback uniforms. Fell behind early to Ohio State...came back to lead...went up 44-40 before falling apart and at one point were down 57-47 with a minute left and eventually losing. DeShawn Sims couldnt hit anything last night. Manny Harris had another great game...That kid is a joy to watch.

Missouri has absolutely demolished two teams to far, and they did so without their most efficient offensive player, Leo Lyons, who is indefinitely suspended. The games were against two of the worst, if not the two worst, teams in the conference, but still.

Colorado managed a remarkable feat. In their last two games, the Buffaloes had more turnovers than field goals. That's right--26/20 against Missouri and 18/16 against Kansas. Incredible.

The end of regulation in Waco was hilarious. OSU up 7 with a little over 4 minutes to go, and they manage only 1 point over 4 minutes, missing 4 fg and 2 ft, including a front end of a one and one, so Baylor goes up 4 with 20 seconds left.

OSU gets a layup and a foul, misses the free throw, gets the rebound, gets the rebound off the block, and hits a three pointer. Then Jerrells gets off a shot, gets his own rebound, gets fouled, but only hits one free throw.

Whoever chose Colorado-Kansas for regional broadcast might need to worry about his job.

Thanks for reminding me of that OSU-Baylor game. I was flipping back and forth between that game and another when I flipped over because it looked like Baylor was surely going to win with about 20 seconds left. Next thing I know...I'm coming back to seeing the replay of the OSU kid knocking down the 3 to put them up. I really think that was a bad call on OSU when Jerrels shot that ball at the end.

I think I mentioned I thought OSU got screwed by the refs, if not I certainly meant to b/c that call sucked.

Bob- you can hilite and focus on the part Boheim knew nothing (imo that's speculation and conjecture) I point to the rest of the 2 paragraphs that say that he certainly should have known what was going on.

Willful blindness doesn't get me off your back- I hold you every bit as guilty in my mind. Nobody knows what he knew or didn't, so the easy way out is to say that he didn't know (based upon what, his say so?)

It's not only the cheating but also all the other stuff associated with that program. I would be embarassed if our program was run like Syracuse's.

All I was getting at is that your claim that he is a cheater could not be proved. Syracuse didn't fire him. The story points out that problems went higher.

Rob Johnson was (is?) a basketball pimp. It was a mistake for Syracuse to get involved with the guy. But let's say you are right. There's been nothing
on Boeheim since then, which is now at 15 years and ticking. There are other guys who have been much more successful and look worse than Boeheim did who have yet to be collared.

The Syracuse thing seems similar (although not in degree) to the Michigan thing of several years ago. They took every advantage Ed Martin could offer, without really looking into the guy. Does that make Steve Fisher culpable, or really smart? Neither he nor Perry Watson ever got an NCAA penalty over that.

You make it read as though Boeheim was hip deep in corruption. Sorry, the story doesn't say that.

The absolute best thing you could say about Boheim is that he lacks ethics. He's also always run a loose ship with the idea that winning a ballgame is more important than character.

I have always and will always continue to root against him. I would be embarrassed if he ran my program.
