Arkansas at Horns

Well let’s see if we can beat the Hogs at home. Caliparis team is coming in off a big win at Ruppnover his old Kentucky team.

Horns favored by 5.5

Sleep-walking through the first 8 minutes. Better wake up or this one will be over by halftime.
Then again, it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.
Come on Horns!

Down 11 at half 35-24. Tuning out the 2nd half so they can make a run like they did against Aggie when I turned it off.

Y’all enjoy the comeback

Impressive display of defensive ineptitude by the horns. Only surpassed by the flood of horn fouls putting the hogs at the foul line 6 of the last 7 trips down the floor.
They played sloppy and uninspired .

There’s no way the horns will play this poorly in the second half. Down by only 11, I predict a thrilling comeback win for the Longhorns.

In the first two minutes of the second half the horns the horns have surpassed their awful first half play with a shocking display of missing shots and matador defense.
Horns, outscored 8-0 in 1:50 with two turnovers.

Yep, horns lose by 8 points and it wasn’t that close.

A team can’t play poorly for the first 30 minutes and then turn up the intensity and expect to win consistently.

The team is talented but just sloppy undisciplined and looks poorly coached.

Whelp, that sucked. Real gut punch to the tourney chances of this team as they still need to find five wins and this was one that really was supposed to be one of those five. Have to get one now that isn't expected to make up for this loss and if Texas ends up as one of last four out or further down the wrong side of the bubble this will be one you can point to as the reason.

Terry's post halftime interview was everything you needed to see. Zero specific adjustments at all, just word vomit. If that's really the halftime conversation they had no wonder we came out unprepared again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Men's basketball is mediocre this year. Seems as if RT did nothing with the portal or this team. He did okay with players left over from Beard's tenure, but nothing on his own. Time for a new coach?

RT on the hot seat?
I think any coach, other than ones who have conference and/or national championships under their belt, are under a hot seat to one degree or another. There is no coddling the coaches whose teams don't perform at a high level at UT.

I think Terry will get another year here, and if his team doesn't contend for a conference title, and/or make a run deep into the March tournament, he will be let go next year.

Is it time for a change? NO! Time for a change was last year, BUT who does Chris go get?

We have given him a ton of cash and sent him out to buy his new "company car". Unfortunately the only "cars" available are used Pintos and Fiats. Who do you get?

Right now the coaching cupboard is bare. So, do you take a million dollar gamble, and hope it's not a typical Aggie hire? Do you wait til next year and look for the next rising star? (Can you say Tom Herman?) Do you try to grab a pig outa the pen, clean him up, and convince the $$$ that we have found the next John Wooden?

This one ain't easy and not likely to be fun. One thing for sure, we shouldn't be wasting any NIL $$$ on this crowd.

I agree that Terry will get another year. He has shown that he is the same head coach he was at Fresno St. and UTEP when it is "his" team, that is a .500 coach. The only difference is that he gets 10 wins a year against completely overmatched teams pre-conference. Nevertheless, he did go to an elite 8 with a team that had Beard's make up and won a tourney game last year. As for who CdC gets, I think he will poach from another Power 4 school or elite mid major when the time comes. Pretty sure it will be a done deal before Terry is shown the door.

Many of us pointed to Terry's career record when he was given the job, but we were dismissed because he led Beards team to success. Right now it's looking like we were correct in simply stating the obvious. He's a great guy and role model, but an average coach at the D1 level.

Basketball version of Charlie Strong - I liked him a lot as a person and hoped for his success but in the end the program (and all the headaches that admittedly go with it here) is just too big for him.

Basketball still takes a back seat to football and baseball here, and I do feel it will be difficult to convince a top notch coach to come, but CDC can certainly work some magic.

I agree that Terry will get another year.

Only if we make the NCAA tourney (in my opinion). If we squeak in and win a game or two then he might get another shot. If we go 3-5 in the last eight and he misses after being handed the keys to an elite level team a year ago, then I believe CDC will make the call to move on.
