AZ 66 - Duke 55.... 11:04 remaining in 2nd half.

19-2 run by Arizona. What's up?

I've been watching the Bradly game mostly.

This brightens my day, it always does. They are dominating them. 73-61 now with 8.07 left to play. Hang on, Zona!

77-63... with two or more Phi-Slammy-Jamma in-your-face dunks that are rim-busters.

Did Texas ever play with this much passion and flat-out determination this year?

I'd like to see the Horns decide that this is the level of intensity and attitude to put on the hardwood every single game.

Today on 104.9 FM the Drive-By, Geoff Ketchum said the Horns are not gonna want to see a close Duke win but a dominating 20-point win... over Arizona.

This game is the EXACT opposite. Wow!

Much as the 1-pt loss, and the way it happened, killed me... I'm backing Arizona on this purely because they are earning it. And I'm a fan of the game being played at this level. Hard to hate the Wildcats with this display.

They are hitting almost everything they put up, but Arizona's ball movement in the second half is impressive. They're definitely utilizing more than half the court on offense.

Also.. just heard that Wisconsin has only scored 5 points in the second half, and the second half is almost halfway through.

Don't know if this makes me feel any better or worse about how we went down to Az last round. Impressive second half, nevertheless.

This makes me feel ultra-sick. Then I have to ask myself: "Self, would the Horns have scored 93 vs Duke?" Uh, no. End of discussion.

Hook'em!!!

The real question is how will we all feel if Arizona somehow totally dominates and wins the WHOLE ENCHILADA??

On one hand it proves this years Barnes coached team was much better and much better coached than people thought, and then on the other hand;

we were that close to winning the title ourselves, which would make me

Arizona has a great shot agains Uconn to get to the Final 4. They are a much better team than I thought 10 days ago and they were a very tough matchup for a top 10 team in the 2nd round (now 3rd round).

I wonder if any of the over-reactionary ******** whose immediate response to our 1 point loss to these guys was to question Rick Barnes' capabilities as our coach, and openly speculate whether we would be better without him, plan to reassess their positions in light of this beat-down of the dookies?

My guess is no.

if Texas could shoot the 3 ball that way (Hamilton/JCB or CJ) we would be final 4 good. We were one pure shooter away from that type of team.

Oh what might have been. It could have been us. Arizona is a good team but we were talented enough to where it shouildn't have been in the hands of the officials at the end. A missed opportunity.

Coach K has not seen basketball played like that (2nd half) since he coached the Olympic team.

That was beyond anything seen at the college level in quite some time.

You cannot take the flow of any given game (AZ vs. Duke or UT vs. AZ) and extrapolate the results for an entire tournament. If AZ wins the whole thing, it means nothing for UT or Duke or whomever.

Every game is a chess match, strengths vs. strengths, weakness vs. weaknesses, etc. That is why the NCAA tournament is so beautiful to watch unfold. By the sweet-16 round, everybody has one or two (or more) clutch/dominant players. They you have the wildcards of players coming out of nowhere to have a dominant game.

It really is a coaches game at that level. And even the best coaches (say a Coach K) can have their team's pants pulled down on any given night. But in the long run, good tournament coaches emerge by putting together good runs in the tournament, and occasionally win the whole thing. Coaching matters because everybody has talent. Then you just hope that you don't run up against some team on the wrong night. Duke ran up against AZ on the wrong night, and had a series of bad matchups, which doomed them.

Coach K will be back. And AZ has found a gem. Sean Miller's last six seasons:

(2005-06) Coach of Xavier, T-7th in conf, 1st rnd NCAA
(2006-07) Coach of Xavier, T-1st in conf, 2nd rnd NCAA
(2007-08) Coach of Xavier, 1st in conf, Elite 8
(2008-09) Coach of Xavier, 1st in conf, sweet 16
(2009-10) Coach of Arizona, 4th in conf, NIT
(2010-11) Coach of Arizona, 1st in conf, Elite 8

zona and uconn are both really hot right now and their young players are stepping up at the right time.

I still think KU has the depth and talent to win it all

I agree that Miller looks like one hell of a coach, but what happened last night was one of those games where pretty much an entire team, not just a player, or two, was in the zone for an entire half. This, combined with uncharacteristically poor play by Duke made it look even more impressive.

This. Even crazier is that situation usually occurs in the first have and then teams tighten up. AZ played loose and Duke got tight. Don't know why Curry and the Dawkins did not play more. Their outside shooting could have countered AZ rediculous run.

Coach K did call timeout and try to stop the run, right? Hard to believe that much of a run can happen to Duke.

I think Arizona is pretty much one half from being done. iow, they've got one hot half left, maybe the first half of the next game.
