U18 team starts practice on July 26.

Guess Ariel will be leaving on Thursday or Friday.

Practice will go from July 26 through August 5. Games start on August 6 through August 8 (group play--three games) with semis on August 9 and finals on August 10. All games are in Colorado Springs, CO.

USA is in Group A with Canada, Mexico and El Salvador.
Group B consists of Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Puerto Rico.

Haven't seen yet whether the games will be online. Hopefully so as the USA will be playing the late game each of the first three days: 6 pm on Aug. 6 and 5:30 pm the last two days.

She said that she leaves for Colorado Springs on Saturday, not on Thursday or Friday like I originally thought. Don't forget to watch the USA games once they start.

She shows up in the background in various photos but photo #15 features her.

Colorado Springs is one hour ahead of us here in Austin, so Wed's game scheduled for 6pm in Colorado Springs can be seen here in Austin on the web at 7pm.

Ariel and team USA U18 will start play today!
Don't forget to watch on either FIBA or youtube.

looks like the sound is not working. Someone on the Boneyard was wondering the same thing. I don't have sound. either.

USA is terrible from BTA--0-7. Posts Brianna Turner (14pts on 7-7 shooting), A'ja Wilson (9 pts, 4-6 FGs) and Jessica Shepard (10 pts on 4-5 shooting) lead the USA. Total domination inside by the USA. as they also hold a 30 to 7 rebounding edge.

Ariel started and has a good game considering the USA is going inside so much: 4 pts on 2-3 shooting; 3 rebs, 2 steals, and one each of TO, block and assist.

USA rips through Mexico: 104-55. Ariel had a good game: 6 pts on 3-6 FGs; 4 steals; 1 block; 1 TO; 3 assists and 3 rebs in 19 min & 43 sec.

Texas coaches have to like her defensive intensity and ability to pass the ball as well as not turn it over.

Tomorrow, they play El Salvador at 6:30 pm CST.

The lack of sound was weird but I don't know if I minded all that much. Might have even been preferable depending on who was doing the commentating! I also wonder if it was intentional, since there was sound immediately after the game when the commercials started. The initial write-up said broadcasts would be in Spanish, with a few in English. Maybe there was sound in the Spanish markets, and for some reason they weren't able to make the English version happen in the USA.

Agree that Ariel looked good, including leading all players with four steals; no one else had more than two. Overall a nice win for the USA, but hopefully there will be other opponents who provide more of a challenge inside. Not sure these blowouts tell us all that much, and IMO aren't particularly exciting to watch. A little tougher competition would definitely be welcome.

good first half for Ariel. She's tied for second in scoring with 9 pts. USA with another blowout, leading 67-22 at the half.

USA totally dominating inside once again, with 46-8 pts in the paint and a 25-4 edge.

weird to hear sounds, sneakers squeaking, some crowd noise but no commentary.

Ariel had another good game: 11 pts on 5-6 from the field and 1-1 from the FT line; 2 assists; 1 reb; 2 TOs; 1 steal and 1 block.

Impressed with her passing, especially the long passes down court that were right on the money. Her help D was also outstanding.

Game tomorrow vs Canada will determine the winner of Group A. Should be a better game than the last two blowouts. Both come in at 2-0.

got in late and only watched a few seconds of the first half. Napheesa Collier carried the USA in the first half with 20 pts as the USA took a 51-43 edge at the half.

USA dominated inside for the third straight game, coming away 45 to 18 rebounding edge and a 56 to 22 points in the paint in the way to a 107 to 76 win. This was the closest game so far. The USA team broke the century mark for the third game in a row. The win secures the top spot in group A for the USA.

Ariel had a poor scoring game, going 0-5 from the field but converting all four FTs for four pts. She added 4 rebs, one assist, one TO, one block and two steals to her stat line.

USA will play Argentina tomorrow.at 4:30 CST.

Canada squeaks by Brazil 67-60 with FTs at the end making up the margin. Tough game for the Canadians. They wait in the finals for the winner of the USA-Argentina game.

USA 56 Argentina 16 at the half. Not much playing time for Ariel as she picked two fouls in the first 2 and a half minutes. She got back in with about 2 minutes left in the half.

Looking like a USA vs Canada for the gold tomorrow.

USA up 50 to 32 over Canada in the gold medal game at the half. USA dominating inside with 24 rebs to 8 and 32 pts from posts Wilson (15), Shepard (10) and Turner (7). Canada's 4-8 from BTA is helping them as the USA is 0-2 on 3s. In just over six minutes playing time, Ariel has 2 rebs, 2 TOs, one assist and one foul.

USA takes the gold with a 104-74 win over Canada. A'ja Wilson led the way with 25 pts, 11 rebs and 3 blocks. USA posts, including SFs, accounted for 85 pts, 62 in the paint. Think Wilson was the MVP although I had a hard time understanding anything said.

Congrats to Ariel and the rest of the USA team. We should be hearing a lot from those that will be playing this year in college.
