Are we Home Team tonight?

And what about throughout the rest of the tourney - how do they figure it. Is it based on the seeds or do they rotate?

According to the NCAA bracket we are the home team tonight.

I believe Arizona State is the home team. We were the home team in our first game, and ASU was the visiting team in their first game, so I think they are rotating it. That's what they've done with all the other 2nd round games.

ASU is the home team.

I won't go into posting the actual rules for determining who is home or away, but the first rule for determining the home team after round one is: "whoever has been the home team the least number of times".

ASU was visitor in game 1, we were home in game 1, so ASU will be home tonight.

ASU will be the home team. The Rosenblatt PA announcer announced that fact immediately after the Texas vs. So. Miss game Sunday night.

Going to be tough to win tonight against Leake. Small ball will benefit us if we can get some lead-off runners on base.

well screw it...here is it if you really feel like figuring out what all of this means at 5pm.

Determination of Home Team

For first-round games during championship competition, the highest-seeded team
shall be designated as the home team. In subsequent games, the home team shall be
determined according to a formula applied by the games committee.

In determining which of two teams in any game will be the home team, the games
committee or the NCAA game representative shall designate the home team using the
following guidelines:
1. The institution that has been the home team the fewer number of times in that
particular tournament.
2. If the two teams are equal in this respect but unequal in the number of times
they were the visitor, then the team that has been the visitor more often will be
designated the home team.
3. If the two teams are equal in the number of times that they have been home and
visitor, the games committee or the NCAA game representative shall observe the
following procedures in the order stated:
a. If the two teams have met previously in that particular tournament, the
visitor in the previous game shall be the home team in the game in question
(Exception: In a two-team tournament where both teams have been the home
team twice, the fifth game will be determined by a coin flip);
b. The team that was visitor in its preceding game shall be the home team, unless
both teams were visitors in their preceding games; or
c. If the above procedures do not resolve the matter, the home team shall be
determined by coin flip. The higher seeded team can determine whether they
will call the coin toss, or defer the call to their opponent.

Interestingly, considering we are doomed tonight, you have to go all the way to step 3.c. and determine the home team by coin flip for our matchup against UNC.

No, he's right. We are definitely the home team tonight.

The first rule is the team that has been the home team the fewest # of times gets to be the home team. We have only been the home team once (against Southern Miss), and Arizona State has been the home team twice (against us and against UNC last night).

Then if we lose, Arizona State would be the home team on Saturday because they will have played as the visiting team more times than we have.

According to the AAS, we are the home team tonight, and the home team for a potential rematch tomorrow will be decided by coin flip:

So whoever said, "No need to discuss it further because we are clearly the away team," or whatever....

Now if home team could only chose the commentators. Please give us someone to call the game that A) isn't kissing up to ASU and B) is actually interested in calling the game on the field.

There is a lot of confusion on this thread as a result of it being started prior to our first game with ASU and the discussion on whether we were home/visitor for THAT game....

Bottom line is that Texas will be the home team on Friday.

If we lose (thanks to the Statesman link referenced above), I am a little confused if we will automatically be the visitor on Saturday or if it will be decided by coin flip (as the Statesman indicates). The official rules for this aren't very clear.
