Are we going to get Sam for another year?

NCAA rules state that for all players this year doesn't count against their eligibility due to COVID.

So I assume he is coming back?

I don't think he's a great pro prospect; maybe late 2nd round at best?

He bleeds Texas orange thru and thru, I just can't see him leaving until they kick him out and he can't come back anymore

He's got an NFL body. Could turn into an NFL QB with 2-3 years on the bench. Has to get more accurate on the deep ball. I thought last 2 years he was learning to throw the back shoulder throw to CJ, but haven't seen that this year to anyone.

I’ve envisioned Sam as a mid round draft pick who will likely learn the ropes as a back up initially. I would guess his decision to return would be based pretty heavily on how this season finishes. Since it now seems unlikely we'll compete for the Big 12 there could be motivation to take care of that and other unfinished business. He also has a puppet for a head coach and a team infested with undisciplined underachievers. He may be tired of carrying the water for Texas footballs when the season wraps up. Who knows?

We don’t have CJ,,,,,, not being a smart a** because I think him gone (plus of course Duv) hurt us more than we anticipated. Or realistically I ought to say Herman anticipated because it on him to come up with adjustments.

If Sam plays next year his best career move would probably be to grad transfer if he can. I hope it doesn't happen, and bet it doesn't, but there are several programs who may be looking for a QB who would probably make better use of him.

As much as I appreciate Sam, this needs to be it for him at Texas. This coaching staff offers nothing for him and a new staff will want their guy.

Go to Stanford for that MBA and be a leader in the PAC.

I would say no to Sam going to Stanford because Shaw is such an *******. On the other hand, Sam has experience being coached by a clueless *******, so he could handle Shaw.

Sam isn't coming back to play for Herman and these douchebag players. I hope he transfers to a place where the players actually compete on the field, not on Sunday bull **** practices...

Sam has had a great run here; and he's not done yet, this year.
I hope he graduates and makes his name in whatever field that matches his dreams. He is a class act; mature beyond his years. He'll be a top addition to whatever organization, in whatever field, he choses to pursue, imo.

I think Sam has a definite love of Texas as well as a genuine passion for football. My guess is he evaluates his draft potential as well as any changes made within the program and teammates. I could also see him being a graduate transfer to a team on the cusp of a championship with a need for a seasoned, passionate QB.

As for the draft, I could see him in a Taysom Hill role.

Personally, I don't think he is a NFL quarterback. I just don't see a team drafting him unless they get him for a different position. While he is a better passer than Tebow, that is the the type of QB he is and it doesn't translate to the NFL.

He should grad transfer to a better team if he wants to progress as a QB.

A perfect description of the current UT program: "Herman and these douchebag players".

I have so much respect for Sam, I’d like to see him go to Bama or LSU or even Aggie to play on a team rather than be THE team and The coach.
Truly mean that I’m not trying to be a smart ***

If he went to A&M, then the arguments of his having a solid Longhorn legacy because of his love of all things Longhorn, would be moot.

I do agree.
But this team is only Longhorn as they are wearing a uniform with Longhorns on it, make no mistake what we are seeing is not The Texas Longhorn team.

I could easily see him being a mid- to late-round pick, not unlike Colt. Sam may not tick off top-10 list intangibles for everyone, but he seems to have the head for the game. Ain't nothing wrong with carrying a clipboard for eight to ten years while collecting a check each year...

Depending on how his hands are, might he even be an option at TE? It is easily shown that he has no problems mixing it up at the line of scrimmage and can take the hits.

I'm sure Sam gets drafted this year no matter what. That said, depending on how this year plays out, he could stay if he's not projected where he wants AND the coaching staff changes and he feels he and the team will improve under that staff. Otherwise, he's gone. He's definitely done enough for this team.

Yeah, ummm a 1,000 post sponsor .. waiting for years for my chance to be a troll.
What I am saying is that I am a huge Sam fan, not a fan of most players on the team.
Frankly, this team and this coaching staff doesn’t deserve Ellinger
