Aranda to A&M ....

My thought is they are desperate and have lost their minds. They have given a $75 million guarantee to Fisher (+ 21% excise tax) and I just read on the Dallas Morning News website that the Aranda is scheduled to $1.85 million next year at LSU. So what would A&M offer to top that? Can he really be that good? LSU's defense was rated 4th in the SEC in scoring and yards allowed per play. My thought is that A&M di not realize the commitment to Fischer would create an unstoppable "set the controls for the heart of the sun" (Pink Floyd) mind-set because now they MUST succeed. They can't rely on Fisher and bargain basement assistants. They will probably raise the bar for every assistant coaching salary because now they have to do it.

It's like the $250 million A-Rod contract. Everybody was scratching their head; sure he's a great player but his contract dwarfed everything he did after that. It was so ridiculous that a .300 average, 40 home runs and 120 RBI's felt like an off year.

Saban earned his money by winning; proving he can win.

Aggy thinks paying outrages salaries will create wins.

They have it backwards. They're backwards.

In other words, yes, they're idiots.

So, A&M had been turned down by their first three or is it four DC choices? Maybe they'll help Malzahn save his job and hire Kevin Steele.

I find it amazing that a Div. 1 Defensive coordinator is fetching $2.5 MM... years ago that was HC money!

Those salaries are making the case for paying players. I never agreed with the "pay the players" proposals but these coaching spending sprees have changed my mind.

I think the money being paid out by A&M will make it more likely than not that the pressure to pay players under the table will increase. This salary is revealing some unintended consequences/pressure to pay even more money to everyone involved because of the now urgent need to win. Before, they just wanted to win; now they HAVE to win.

As unto the NFL so too comes to college football. This s*** and the more relevant CTE will probably destroy my favorite fall obsession.

I can't imagine this ends well. If you're a player at ATM you're feeling that same pressure to win based on the vast money being thrown around yet not reaping any of the windfall. Are assistant coaches also getting the windfall? If not, how happy will they be that Jimbo isn't sharing his largess with the staff?

Anyone else sick and tired of "Geaux" every damn thing when it comes to LSU and basically the anything New Orleans or Louisiana?

Good Gawd, I was born in New Orleans. My parents are from Louisiana. My dad likes LSU but even he is sick of it. And, my Lawd, the whole "Who Dat" thing with the Saints.

Just stop, already. Morons.

I feel better now.
