Apartments off of Parmer Ln

Anybody live in this area? preferably between 35 and Mopac - but i'm open to just west of Mopac, but not quite to McNeil. I dont even know of any apartments over there.

Anyway - can anyone recommend a place with competent management, accepts large dogs (or at least up to 40 lbs - i'll lie about the other 40 pounds) and comes with w/d? preferably around 500 for a 1 br/1ba

grassy ***.

I think the Waters will allow big dogs. Taht area sucks though. Traffic is horrible right there.

Oh, their 1 brs may be over 500. In fact, I'm sure it is. Check out the place behind Time warner cable. Older, but cheap. Actually, there are alot of break ins there. I guess I can't help you.

dude - a job is a job. of course, i'll likely get laid off again in the near future so NYC's gonna be an option then, too.

Nacho--there are a **** load of apartments in between Mopac and I35 on Parmer...mainly on Metric Ave which intersects Parmer. Some are newer and pretty nice, some are mediocre, but all are well kept. I would say price ranges are going to be all over the place depending on how new the complex is, but you will definately find something in your price range since complexes are scambling to compete for tenants---it's a good time to rent in Austin right now.

I live about 3 miles from that area and I would say it's pretty good neighborhood. The ACC campus is right down the road on Metric as is a Police substation, so the area is pretty safe as well.

I would definately avoid the temptation to move into the brand new apartments on Parmer east of I35 right by Dell. Anything East of I35 is quickly becoming trash in between Rundberg and Pflugerville.

Jefferson Center is past McNeil by about 3 miles, but is very nice. They don't accept "dangerous breeds" whatever that means, not sure about the size reqs though. My friends live here too, in 1 brs and pay exactly $500. Its about $30 more for w/d. I just re-upped another year b/c I got a 1500sf 3/2 for under a grand and I actually like it here.

I used to live at Alexan Rattan Creek (probably a bit too far west for you), but I would not recommend it... I had horrible ant problems that would not go away no matter what I tried, or how many times i got the place exterminated... people weren't too friendly either.

Don't know what your budget is, but check out houses for rent. There's a glut and you might get a good rate. House next to me is 2bed 1 bath with large backyard. rate is about $1000, but it's been open for 2+ months. lots of those around.

ouch... I had some friends that lived in Alexxan... I loved that place. We'd go over there every weekend to play water volleyball...

PMed you, Nacho. I know that area very well!

Waters Park isn't too bad. They allow big dogs, and I know they take "dangerous breeds" cause I saw several pit bulls when I used to live there. Traffic isn't that bad either.

With rents as low as they are now, you should be able to rent a pretty damn nice place. My buddy got a 2/2 at Water's Park for $775/mo. The Villas has been trying to get people into their 2/2 for $850/mo. Not to mention all the places off of Metric like Camden, Marquis, and Madison.

As mentioned before, I'd avoid the apartments across from Dell, as living East of I-35 isn't too desirable.

Waters Park wasn't too bad. I lived there for two years with my 50 pound Chow Chow.

Getting out of the parking lot wasn't all that bad, well as long as you don't need to go West on Parmer Lane to get to work in the morning.

I don't know what EEhorn is talking about. I live in the Mandalay Apartments which are one of the two new ones east on Parmer by the Dell. I have a 1/1 which costs $500. The area here is nice, peaceful, and quiet. Most people that live here work at the Dell. You have the new HEB shopping center on Parmer/I35 with some restraunts and stores. There's a nice area to jog or walk you dog around the Dell, where hardly any cars go. Now, if you are further down Parmer or off down Yaeger or Rundberg, than yes it does look rundown. But, my aparment community is nice, crime-free, and has lots of young, hot chicks around probably the nicest pool in Austin.

D-back, Mandalay Apts. are really nice. In my opinion, the area isn't though, probably because I hate going there for work every morning, and don't want to look out the window at my office when I wake up in the morning.
