AP poll 12/13/10

well, I didn't think of the Stanford or Tenn games as blowouts. MSU was closer to our level and the one that could be considered a blowout due to that fact that both teams should have been evenly matched and Texas did not show up for that game.

Texas is ranked for at least another week, and, imo, will go at least 2-1 in Vegas so the Horns may still be ranked after that. I don't have a problem with it. If this team can manage to stay in the top 25-30 considering the Reed situation and having five frosh playing major minutes, it's a huge step forward.

Not really! Thats what you should beat a team by 15 points,if not more if you are Ranked in the Top 10. I like the competition they are playing. It will only make them better against normal teams in the pack. We have about 2 years, before you see us completely ELITE. That means staying in the Top 10 all year.

I look at final scores and all three were blowouts. Tired of "good efforts." Hanging around the top 30 is great if you only hope to be an average team. We should expect more at Texas otherwise we're Texas Tech or Missouri.

I found some info that the announcers gave during the Texas-Tenn game telling. Coach G's conference records during here first three years at Duke are nearly identical to the conference records she has had in her first three years at Texas. Each year has brought an improvement. The announcers also said that the fans had to be patient and that the success she had at Duke would come to the Horns. I just don't get why people think she should have turned the program into UConn or Tenn in just her fourth season. She's finally getting in players that she has recruited; the type of players that she wants to put into her system.

I, for one, thought the ladies put up a valiant effort against Tennessee. They just had too short of bench this day to keep making runs at the Vols.

Keep up the hard work ladies!

we did put up a pretty good fight on sunday considering the circumstances - however this is her fourth season and our record is not going to be very good eventhough we may finally be getting better - the unforced turnovers are what amaze me still, we go through too many spells with jr. hi like turnovers - i follow women's basketball and i know what a good coach gail is - what concerns me though is maybe she just isn't fitting in here? - i don't know - the freshman seem like very good ball players and the incoming fresh are supposed to be good - so do we have to wait 2 more years to be top 20 competitive? - we are not a top 25 team right now - the conference with baylor and a$m is going to be brutal - all in all i'm surprised things haven't gotten a little better sooner

I'm going to the Baylor-UT game tonight. Curious to see how Baylor plays them compared to Texas. I believe Gail is a good coach but I'm really puzzled as to why she hasn't been able to produce anything better than an average product.

Have patience! We got to look at everything we played 6 players against Tenn. You are not going to beat ELITE team, with 6 players. The game that impress me with Texas, is going to Stanford and losing by 15 points. We have no height and we are still competing.I know all of our expectations are high. But you do not build a program back up with 3 to 4 years being there.Look at her record from Duke.Yea she GG from Duke. But why did we not get her 6 years ago before everybody pass us in recruiting. Now thats the story. If you really want to speak on something.

This is a tough league to make a living in; women's and men's. The loss of the dog programs at CU and Nebraska will only make it that much harder.

Oh my.

Well, let's see. Oklahoma and Baylor did not fire National Championship coaches who had recently been to the Final Four (and Sweet 16) as you mentioned. So I guess their programs were at a different point. Wouldn't you agree?

It sure is great to be at the same point in our program development as Baylor was in year 3! Is that your expectation? Obviously the phrase "expect excellence" is ridiculous in your eyes (and please, don't be so literal, it is extremely boring), so are you saying that as long as we keep pace with Baylor, we will be fine. Really?

I will speak for others at this point, as I am pretty sure the vast majority of Longhorns would agree. Don't ask me how I know. I just do. So here goes, "We don't want to be like Baylor, we want to beat Baylor!" So, while the Sooners, aggy and Bears are kicking GG's *** today I will complain. You take comfort in knowing that our team of tomorrow could beat the Bears of yesterday.

There is so much wrong with what you say I'm not certain where to begin. First of all the Horns are ahead, not equal to where the other programs mentioned were at during the same stage. Second, as everyone can attest to, I was the biggest JC fan of all, but what she has to do with the points you are making escapes me. To begin with she wasn't fired and would still be coach today had she wanted that. She didn't. And whenever someone says "don't ask me how I know," it's a safe bet they don't. Here you are implying you know what the majority thinks when it's obvious you have no idea. And you still haven't addressed the points made above. GG has done better than her Big12 counterparts did duirng their first years at the helm and has the program going in the right direction. No one is settling or making excuses, but I suspect you know that; the program is exactly where it should be.

GG arrived thinking our greatest rival was in Oklahoma. We have lost the last 7 games with the Aggies. This isn't progress to me.

Texas will be just fine! If you dont think she is doing a good job. Dont go or watch the games. But the fans that are really fans, let them enjoy the season. I do see good things happening. And I luv GG. And really this is her best team, since shes been there. And we do not have any height really. So once again be patience.

I think both parties here would agree on ONE thing. We are Texas fans who would like to see this program back on the top of the heap in the Big 12, and even in the Nation!

I think everyone hoped GG would come into the Lone Star State and blow everyone out of the water....oh, sure, there were those that knew it would take time, but I really think most of us had MUCH bigger expectations (rightly or wrongly) than where the program is at the moment. GG herself admits she had no idea how tough recruiting would be here...she's not one of the "good ol' gals/guys" like Coale, Sulkey, and Blair...that has hurt us...Do I think she could have done better by now? Well, maybe a little....but if the records of the other 3 aforementioned coaches is correct, then overseas has a pretty good point....maybe we need to just "agree to disagree".............

PS As an aside, she really shouldn't have pissed off the old foundation members as much as she did...a lot of the fan base was lost there...which was unfortunate...
