Anyone work at Golds Gym?

Hey guys...
I was a member at World Gym for like, 7 years. Then 2 years ago when I left Austin to go backpack around, I put my membership on hold.
So now I have moved back to Austin & found they have been taken over by Golds.
I tried to get my membership reinstated but at their head office, they can not find any record of me being a member!
I want to use the gym again, but I dont want to have to pay the sign up fees a second time.
Does anyone work there who can possibly hook me up???

i don't work there.

i think right now they have a $25 processing fee, then $20 a month. thats a deal they have goin on right now. so if you don't get a hookup, i'd look into that.

I can deal with that..but a few weeks ago when I enquired, they wanted over $200. I was not prepared to pay that.
I will call up & ask.

Just called up & the cheapest they can do is $150 down.
Just on principal, I dont want to pay that fee again.

I would just go there in person and tell them you want to join. Go ahead and tell them you've been a member before. If they want to charge you initiation fees, tell them you're not interested and just leave.

I think their end goal is to get you into a contract. Just take a hard line and see where that gets you.

Anyone who signs a gym contract in this day and age needs their head examined. One of the biggest crocks ever was gym memberships. I love how World/Gorls's etc took it in the *** in the 90's when places like FutureFirm (now gone I believe) opened and didn't require contracts. Amazing the clever ideas gym management can come up with to beat their competitors when they're not 'roiding out.

I refuse to pay gym rates so I have gotten in good with the girls who work at the one I go to and I workout for free. Of course all I do is play racquetball and I use it maybe 4 times a month, but if you can get in good or get guest passes it will save some money.

Do what I did, call and speak with a salesperson and tell them that you would prefer to work out there but that 24 hour fitness is giving you no fee, $20 a month and if they match it you are in.

If they turn you down call another location or call back later and speak to someone else.

I bet anything they are trying to make as much money riding the "New Years Resolution" crowd. I got a mailer the first week of december that was for no money down $20 a month but it expired dec 31.

I used a friends coupon that had expired, I am now his room mate

& asked if they could extend this to me. They did.
