Anyone Use mIRC?

it should be relatively simple if you use ie with it. search the album, it should tell you the packet number and if the bot is online with it, and the download speed, etc. click on the pack number, which should copy to your clipboard the command you need to message to the bot. once you're connected, just paste what should already be in your clipboard. if the bot is there, you should be good. if there is a wait, just sit there and wait for it. once you get going, you'll feel like a real nerd. i usually sit in particular channels that are of my particular music taste, so i don't really search anymore. i just sit around and download.

i'm connected and i've pasted what was on the clipboard. now, how do i know if the bot is there?

alright i've received the file. how do i copy the files/songs to a cd?

get winrar. unrar the files. then burn like normal.

the rar is just like a zip file.

usually it'll be compressed as a .rar and u will have to use winrar Winrar to extract the mp3s.

I've been doing this for years. It's really simple actually, and it beats the hell out of using Kazaa and I am never in fear of being sued.

If you want to know the essentials, just pm me. I don't want to lay all of it out on here, even though I pretty much already did. I know some people are really touchy about this kind of stuff.

There are some pretty nasty viruses that use mIRC as a venue for dispersal.

There are certain steps you can take within mIRC and anti-viral software you can take. Of course, just checking your e-mail is a good way to get a virus, too.

mIRC is great, but don't tell anyone else about it. it's non-user friendly and obscure enough (even though it's been around as long as I can remember) that it isn't under governmental scrutiny.

I think it is awesome. Once you figure out the system it is excellent. I got many PC games off it in the past.

on a related note, if you use bittorrent, don't download the new version, it's ******. i just had to do a system restore to get back my old version.
