Anyone know how to pull clips off a DVD?

I'm trying to chop short clips from different DVD's and store them on my computer but I can't find any software that will let me do it. Anyone know how to do this?

If the DVD is copy protected, legally you can't. That doesn't mean it isn't possible, just illegal.

SATX, that is not entirely true.

It is legal to make a back up copy of copyrighted material that you personally own. But the only way to do this is to defeat the Macrovision copy protection, and this is illegal. Or at least is was, with all the new RIAA stuff flying through congress, you never know.

you should check out doom9.org. it has a lot info (good forums) and programs on how to make your own dvds (from your own video) although there are other forums for backing up commercial dvds.

you basically need to convert the video to an mpeg or avi file and then you can use a number of available mpeg/avi editiors to chop out the scene you need.

You can make copies of copyrighted material for certain purposes, such as educational and archiving. But defeating the CSS or Macrovision is illegal, even if the purpose for which you are doing it is legal. There is plenty of software out there that will do it, however it is illegal if you are defeating the copy protection to do it.
