I have no idea how this post has been here for 25 minutes without a Big Red Motors crack.

Moving on, I bought a GM car a couple months ago to use as my work car (Malibu LTZ, which gets twice the mileage of my pickup) and got an amazing deal: paid cash, so I got the $2,750 rebate, and they came off another $2,500 or so and gave me three years service for free. The other option was 60 months, 0% financing.

Edmunds.com will typically have the latest deals, along with the Buick website.

As for best "time" to buy, the market is obviously quite depressed, so they are hurting for your business. Enclaves are big, loaded vehicles, so they probably have a lot of wiggle room. You say you can wait, so the '09's will probably be discounted later in the year when the '10's come out, but you may not get the same rebates/incentives.

Also, there's a school of thought GM dealers won't be so desperate once it gets a little healthier when the bailout money starts flowing.

In other words, you may not benefit much by waiting, so pulling the trigger now may not be a bad idea.

Iif you know the exact car and features you want, just contact all the dealers near you and ask them for the best deal they can make. Give them all of the specifications so they give you an accurate price. Normally, you want to call the dealer and get an email address or fax number for the sales manager and they will give you a number. Then you can play the lowest bids against each other. This is the crux of the fightingchance deal, and it's free.

Hell, they should pay you to take delivery of a Buick these days.

a rainy day when you might be the only person who has been on the lot all day is a good time to find them desperate. other than that, the best thing you have going for you is your ability to walk away

Timing to buy a car? Not until you absoluely need to.

No one practices this dictum, of course. Substitute "want" for "need" and carry on.
