I know for a fact that I won't drag myself to the gym in a new york winter (since i havnt for 7 years running) and I finally have some room (but not that much) and it looks like it might fit the bill and it's cheap.

Anyone use one?

You would be able to do just as much, yet more efficiently with an adjustable bench/squat rack with dumbell/barbell set.

Although if you haven't had the motivation to work out in 7 years, it's likely you won't find the motivation to do squats.... so you could probably hold off on that.

It would be cheaper to ge the adjustable bench with barbell/dumbell set than it would be to buy the bowflex.

And people wouldn't make fun of you when you told them about it.

A friend of mine's husband was bugging her to let him order one, and I told her at the time not to let him do it, that it would end up being a very expensive laundry rack. Well, he bought one, and sure enough it's a very expensive laundry rack!

I had one for about 3 years. Very good for upper body, not so good for lower body (although I didn't have all the attachments that they now offer standard).

Yes, a Smith Machine is cheaper and as good, but also weighs about 800 pounds.

I'd try and pick one up used. Make sure you demo it first, those powerrods don't really last forever. By the time mine had 3 years of reps on it, I was allegedly able to bench 410 22 times. I think maybe the powerrods had worn down a bit.

I have a Crossbow, which is like the 'affordable' Bowflex. Combining the strength workout, elliptical trainer and cutting out some fatty foods I have gone from 230 to about 190 since January.

I am not cut by any means, but there is a definite muscle gain in these past 6 months. I would agree that it is tougher to build your legs on these type of machines, as I have had to adapt some equipment to do squats.

I didn't say i haven't worked out in 7 years I said I won't drag myself to the gym in the winter and now I don't live one block away from where I'd go but ten blocks away mr superior weight lifter guy.

Hmm ill look at that other stuff u guys mentioned.

i'm less worried about my legs since I ride my mountain bike a zillion miles a week and I do do that in the winter.

ride your bike to the gym.

I have a bowflex and the benefit is that you can do a workout in 30-45min and there is no travel time to and from the gym. bad thing is, it is in your house and there are tons of other **** to distract you from working out.

I go to gym, mainly because my bowflex does not have a full size basketball court, so the bowflex gets minimal use.
