Anyone got cures for 'Lake Flu'?

Almost every time I spend a day at the lake, I can always look forward to a sleepness night.

- Clogged sinuses, unable to breath, leading to sore throat, tired all day the nxt.

Last night, I tried a decongestant (Tylenol Cold) because the time before I tried an antihistamine (Benedryl).

Neither worked, either time.

A good alternative, I agree.

But, no beach can hold a candle to Devil's Cove on a holiday weekend. (not even on Spring Break)

you know all those signs at some of the lakes warning people not to swim due to nasty crap in the water...well i dont read them either, but they may be on to something.

Were you drinking enough alcohol to kill anything that got into the bloodstream?

Allergies combined with deyhdration.

Witht eh wind blowign out at the lake and being exposed all day long in the sun, and I assumer drinking that's your allergy/deydration cocktail.

Try a LOT more water I woudl bet that in Tylenol cold you got some benedryl. The problem with benedryl is that it is a decongestant BUT is alos the most common ingrediant in over the counter sleeping aids.

Try taking something BEFORE you head out to the lake, like an actifed or other non-drowsy (NO-benedryl) antihistimine. Drink a ton of water BEFORE you go and during the day.

I bet you feel MUCH better!

I get the exact same thing every time I hit the lake, which is pretty often. My sinuses are typically 100% blocked. No air in and little or none out.

After a day at the lake, I take two shots of Nyquil and two Sudafed allergy/sinus tablets. The symptoms will disappear, but I usually toss and turn for much of the night. By the next night, I'm fine.

Benadryl is not a decongestant, it's an antihistimine, which is why it makes you drowsy.

Sudafed is a decongestant.

Benadryl is a sedating antihistamine.

Actifed is a combination product with a (less) sedating antihistamine and a decongestant (and sometimes an analgesic in some formulations).

Stay hydrated, try a decongestant and/or some loratidine/Claritin.

Just a thought, you might want to try ear plugs. I've been doing a lot of lake swimming lately getting ready for a triathlon, and since I've been plugging up my ears I never get the nasal/sinus probs I had been getting before.

Ooops yes bendryl is anti-hsitimine NOT decongestant.

If I take that **** at night it's like taking valuim or some other sedative, I drag the whole next day and feel as if I am in a fog.

Still betting on allergies and lack of hydration, probably also because massive doses of alcohol dehydrate. I KNOW not to suggest cutting the booze, so hydrate before you go!
