Anyone ever been to Ghana?

I'm thinking about going this January/February for the African Cup of Nations (huge international soccer tournament, featuring the best national teams from Africa).

I've never been to Africa and I hear Ghana is a great country for your first visit. Accra is supposed to be a very lively city, full of friendly people.

Anyone have any tips for Ghanaian travel?

I have a good friend whose information I have recently misplaced. I will try to get ahold of it and pm you. She recently moved back there from Austin. Her husband is an exporter/importer and they know a ton about Africa and their country. I hope I can find this info as I hope to head over there in the next couple of years if possible.

my sister's best friend is from ghana. she's a doctor in san fran. i emailed her when you originally posted this, but i got no reply. she's busy and she's kinda crazy, sorry bout that. i was hoping to have some info for you.
